Music Review for ‘True Intentions’ by Mic L Shawn
Mic L Shawn offers an ocean of good vibes with this latest release. The choir of harmonies opening up the track are enough to draw you right into the music and the moment. Following this, a string of jazz-inspired riffs, a mellow and ultimately feel-good kind of musical ambiance, and a gorgeously gentle yet soulful and stylish vocal performance.
The track has a wonderfully vintage crackle to it at times, the sound could very well be something from decades past, re-born and re-vitalised. Equally though, it’s something brand new for audiences to get swept away by. The harmonies used to emphasize that melodic hook section give off a huge feeling of togetherness, making you want to join in; those summer time festival vibes come to mind, and this would be a great song and indeed a great artist to witness at a live show. The concept of true intentions is a pleasant one, so the whole theme of the song is backed up well by it’s musical substance, and although it’s a fairly minimalist and organic piece of music, everything that needs to be said or represented, is, effectively so.
The tone of the artist’s voice is one additional bonus of the whole sound, there aren’t too many soul singers around these days who simply sing for the love of singing and the depth of the ideas behind it. The artist doesn’t over perform or over sing, but the skill and the love of music is consistently evident, and that’s something that carries irreplaceable value. It’s a fantastic song to listen to, released just in time for the uplifting summer season, and it’s one that stands out and stays with you a fair while after you’ve walked away from it.
