Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?
Sirpit: For anyone wanting some tips on getting gigs or airplay l would tell them to believe in themselves, as they will face a lot of bumps on the road and build your brand, maintaining a certain standard. The brand and quality you put out will speak volumes.
Exposed Vocals:Â
Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?
Sirpit: Inspiration for the track and the direction it will take comes directly from the beat that I am hearing. Once I hear a certain beat there is no limit to where it may take me and I am open to what it will let me feel and what it inspires within me. Once I have that inspiration I will then start writing the lyrics, and then the back and forth process begins from the instrumental to the lyrics until the entire track is written. Once written I will lay the tracks roughly in place so as to hear the progression through the song. Continually tweaking, removing, improving whatever is necessary until I am completely happy with the song that has been created. Then I will lay down the verses and hooks with ad libs and whatever else that is required.
