Exposed Vocals sat down with “Reek Exclusive” for an interview!
Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?
Reek Exclusive: Â I grew up in a very small town called Crystal River, Fl. All my life my family has been singing and growing up in that type of surrounding was always motivation.
Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?
Reek Exclusive: Ironically back when I was in middle school, me and my ex-girlfriend were trying to come up with a better name for myself because back then my stage name was Lil Reek, but I was older and had grown from that and this name just stuck. I came up with this name because I always felt like I stood out and was different from everybody else; like I was an exclusive edition of a person. Â
Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?
Reek Exclusive: I feel like it is a great way to network and reach other fans all over the world. I offer all of my songs for free because I like to collab with different artists and producers and I want them as well as me have the freedom of creativity and the option to share that.
Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?
Reek Exclusive: As long as you always have that dream and drive to do what you love and what you want to achieve you can do and be anything. Just always remain optimistic and take criticism and feedback well; that’s how you get better.
Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?
Reek Exclusive: A lot of the times I just think of something going on in my life or hone onto a certain emotion and capitalize off of that. Other times I just listen to beats and find my vibe and go from there.
Exposed Vocals: Do you have a band website? What online platforms do you use to share your music?
Reek Exclusive: I have several websites that I’ll list below:
Twitter: @reektheprince
Instagram: @reektheprince
DatPiff: @sharrica
Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?
Reek Exclusive: I would kick off my music career with a world tour. I would book concerts, go to different studios, connect with different people, and travel.
Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?
Reek Exclusive: I research different artists and developmental programs for music to find information on how to promote my music. It works best for me to research on Google and promote myself on all my personal pages.
Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?
Reek Exclusive: I just released my first mixtape on DatPiff. I have a few more tracks to compose for my next mixtape. I also have a showcase that I am performing at on August 21st at 6pm in Sanford. I’ll soon have music on Spotify and Spinrilla as well.
Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?
Reek Exclusive: To be honest, there’s nothing I would be doing other than making music.
Exposed Vocals: How do you juggle the rest of your responsibilities while trying to stay ahead in your music life?
Reek Exclusive: I’ll be honest it’s not always easy juggling my personal life and keeping up with music, but it’s do-able.
Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in 2016?
Â
Reek Exclusive: My fans can look forward to more concerts and more mixtapes. I also have something big in the making for next year so be on the look out!
