Exposed Vocals Interviews Will the Lucid One
Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?
Will:Â I grew up in Jacksonville FL in a family of five, Oldest of my two brothers. I started doing music around 13 years old, I went to a small private school of the arts where I learned most of what I know. Mostly I rapped in the schools studio with my friends just having fun. All of that really made me realize how much music is apart of me so at around 16 I decided to make it a career. I figure why live if you can’t do what you love.
Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?
Will:Â The name Will, The Lucid One can be explained like this. Will is an abbreviation of my last name “Williams” and Lucid means to show the ability to think clearly or control. so I just put the two together.
Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?
Will: I think that it’s amazing, people have a way where they can share their music to the word, It gives everyone a chance to be heard. Only downside is that there’s so much out there that not everyone get a chance. I always give my music away for free mostly because of exposure. Not everyone is going to buy music from someone they’ve never heard of, so I feel it has a better chance of being heard if I give it out for free.
Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?
Will:Â From what I have learned so far, its all about promoting yourself, get a following and networking with as many people as possible. Putting yourself out there and connecting with others like you or a little more experienced can get you more know. Lol, that’s something I’m still trying to do myself.
Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?
Will: Mostly inspiration comes from life experiences, desirers or me just daydreaming. The process usually starts with Me creating the beat and I’ll think of the hook while in the middle of the beat process. Some ideas get pushed in front of others depending on the mood or how I’m thinking at the time.
Exposed Vocals: Do you have a band website? What online platforms do you use to share your music?
Will: The Website is being worked on as we speak but I post all of my music on Sound Cloud and all of my instrumentals are on sound click. I mostly promote my music on my social media pages like Fb, SC ,IG and Twitter.
Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?
Will: I would most defiantly start a record label. That’s always been one of my goals in life is to build up a music empire.
Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?
Will:Â I have multiple social media accounts that I try to promote my music on, I post on different music sharing sites but so far Twitter is what works best for me right now.
Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?
Will: I’m dropping a mixtape very very soon titled “WierdKidz”  Its basically all the music I’ve been working on so far this year, so look out for that.
Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?
Will:Â Tbh I don’t know what I would be doing lol, maybe lounging around, skating at the nearest park reflecting on my life.
Exposed Vocals: How do you juggle the rest of your responsibilities while trying to stay ahead in your music life?
Will:Â I think of all my responsibilities as music inspiration, so I just do what I have to do the best way I can and try to be influenced by it.
