Das Haus – The Invaders – Music Review
This track has such a wonderfully weird and retro home-made video, it makes you smile as you watch. The track fits this sort of scene and array of imagery pretty well, and visuals aside – the song has a huge amount of strength as a brand new piece of indie art. The music has a minimalist rock sort of sound, complete with snippets of distorted guitar chords, solos, and unusually – a thick and heavy beat, almost like that of a tribal dance track. The vocal choruses that make up the hook or chanting section of this track work really well alongside that tribal vibe. The guitar work intensifies as you make your way further into the track, and the music builds up and breaks down a fair few times throughout, so on the whole it’s a really fun and memorable piece of music, with some really interesting moments of creativity and song writing.
There’s a particularly retro presentation to this whole piece of music that could have been a negative element if it weren’t so stylishly executed. It’s so effective, and as mentioned, the retro fuses with the fresh, the indie fuses with the tribal, the live sound fuses with the studio sound, and the vocal performance in the verses is so strangely compelling that it becomes a real pleasure just to listen. It makes you want to move a little, setting a great kind of vibe for the weekend, and it’s just a whole lot of fun.
There’s sci-fi, there’s chanting, there’s a thick and striking beat, which draws you right into the centre of the action with it. There’s a story, there’s a lot of musical creativity – pretty unique performances from everyone involved. All in all, a clear amount of character and personality shines brightly from start to finish. There’s a certain individuality to this track and that’s a great thing to achieve and hold on to in today’s music industry.
