Music Review for Danny Spade – Dead Man’s Hand (Remix)
This is a pretty impressive remix, a lot of creative play shown in the mix and the build up – everything sounds polished and well produced, at times atmospheric and beautiful, at other times quite overwhelmingly powerful. When those synths kick in and the whole thing starts to really build up, the drop is intense, and it doesn’t stop there either. A fair amount of thought has gone into putting this together, it’s a little like a short film, the variation within just a single track is uncommon but hugely effective.
It really suits the kind of feeling required to fully gear up for a big summer. It makes you want to drive fast (within reason, of course), or get packed up and ready for a festival. The moment’s are many and hugely different from one to the next throughout this piece of music. Sometimes it all drops away almost completely, but it builds right back up again, to that same intense level of musical experience. It’s definitely one to listen to at full volume, through decent speakers if possible.
The ambiance that is shown towards the centre of the track, and in fact again towards the end, is normally what you’d get at the very beginning of this kind of music. The quiet would be expected to open the track, with the loud building up and up as time goes by. But in this case, the structure is pretty unique. It’s not something that needs changing, it’s great when artist’s go their own way in terms of structure, genre, style, creativity – just letting the music do the talking, without worrying about any rules or expectations. There are some lovely moments of peace in between the manic parts of this track, so the whole soundscape just works as a piece of art – it tells it’s story, in a way, and there are so many layers to it.
