Hot new interview with Code Ninety
Exposed Vocals: How did you hear about Exposed Vocals? What made you decide to sign up?
Code Ninety: We heard about Exposed Vocals through twitter and we saw how effective your promotion is for artists and we wanted to get involved.
Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?
Code Ninety: We started this collective in September 2015 after Nico Rooney and NA$E had just finished shooting a music video for a collaborative single called “All Week”. The same night we met up with JadataMusic and started writing some songs, this led us onto making more songs and coming up with plans for starting a collective. We are based in West London.
Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?
Code Ninety: Code Ninety stands for Chasing Our Dreams Endlessly and being born in and influenced by the nineties. We are all born in the nineties and we share the same vision of chasing our dreams without bonds or limits. We came up with name by sitting down and going through various names until we were satisfied.
Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?
Code Ninety: We think online music sharing has changed the music industry in a great way because music is accessible everywhere and anytime.
Yes we give away free music to our audience to entertain them and let them know we are still making loads of great material for them. We have given away our first single for free which you can download from here: https://soundcloud.com/codeninety/parties-n-heartbreaks
Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?
Code Ninety: We believe that no show or venue is too small and that mentality is great to have when approaching venues or shows. Start with the small shows like open mics and impress people with your material and stage presence and in no time you will get more shows and more opportunities.
Exposed Vocals: Do you ever make mistakes during performances? How do you handle that?
Code Ninety: We have made minor mistakes during performances as we are only human, however we are able to overcome these situations that will better us by carrying on with our performance and acting like nothing happened.
Exposed Vocals: Do you tour? Anything interesting happen on tour that you think our readers would enjoy hearing about?
Code Ninety: We have yet to go on a tour together however we did do a show outside of our hometown in January and we loved the experience. Loads of interesting things happen during our performances, we tend to film all this footage and we shall be releasing them shortly.
Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?
Code Ninety: We all gather our own inspirations from things that have happened to us and around us. We occasionally write about thing that will happen and that may never happen. We all like to meet up and start writing together as we all bounce energy from each other. Sometimes we are at studio or sometimes we are at home with a few drinks.
