Something New in Electronic Music

We grew up in Los Angeles, CA during the 80's and 90's listening to electronic music, alternative and classic rock and spanish rock (rock en espanol).
Ruben Lopez Jr. had originally started on projects dating as far back as the late 1980’s & early 1990’s with his 1st band "Frame". "Frame" was an 80’s new wave electronic band that created the original compositions for "Fields of Consent" & "Song for the Dead". Unfortunately the Frame project dissipated & broke apart in 1993.
I (Kevin Aparicio) began playing piano and guitar at an early age and started making my own mixes with a Juno 60 and a small Roland drum machine.
Listening to bands such as Depeche Mode, Erasure, New Order, Pet Shop Boys, The Cure, Nitzer Ebb, NIN and classic rock bands such as The Beatles, The Doors and Led Zeppelin really inspired us to want to make amazing, compelling, original music. Ruben already had a taste for music creation but I was hungry to work with a partner to add vocals to my compositions.
Ruben & Kevin Aparicio started working together in the late 90's all the way through the mid 2000's in projects such as "Mindset" (electronic music) and "Lenguage Cero" (spanish rock music). We still have some of those old tracks that maybe we'll release one day!
16 years after a big absence of any collaborative music for either of us, OOTF was established in 2020. We are a dark synth, alternative, new wave band with dark overtones which includes music that speaks of love, political and social issues for these darkened times that we all currently live in.
- Well we are still a small and local band but we find that Spotify playlists help for airplay and getting in contact with local promoters for gigs helps!
- We try our best to make sure the audience doesn't notice but our rule is even if we mess something up, never stop the show!
- We have only played local gigs so far. Our last show, I had a bad cold (not COVID!). It is always interesting playing a show while not feeling so hot.
- We just upgraded our studio mics to a Neumann mic and plan to upgrade our DAW and guitars soon!
- We are still trying to figure that one out! We find that we get the most response from our YouTube videos. We know if more people heard our music, they would enjoy the way we interpret "electronic music". We do feel very blessed to have the following we have so far.
- Playing a venue such as the CYRPTO.com arena and opening up for a band like Depeche Mode would be amazing. You have to shoot for the moon!
- We are starting to play more LIVE shoes. As we get better at promoting, we will be re-releasing some older tracks to give them some needed exposure. We will also begin working on an actual album in the near future.
- I would love to one day make music for a living, but Ruben is an accountant and I am a systems engineer for multiple hospitals...so we would just keep doing that.
- More LIVE shows and new material!
