Exposed Vocals just sat down to an interview with singer songwriter Natasha Jane Julian
Natasha Jane Julian is a artist with a passion for enticing pop vibes and jarring emotional songs with heartfelt lyrics.
This charismatic singer and songwriter managed to combine stunning melodies with infectious grooves and great beats, in order to create a catchy, yet direct and edgy sound with a lot of personality. Originally from Southern California, Natasha has been passionate about performing arts ever since she was only a child. She’s been dancing, acting and singing ever since she can remember, with a true passion for the stage. Following her experiences in a few local music projects, she later decided to develop her solo career, and develop with a talented team of professional musicians based in several countries across the world, helping her make her vision come to life.
Natasha’s music is a deep mirror into her soul and creative vision. Her approach to melody is immediate and instinctive, yet very catchy and classy, reflecting her unique international background with a very sophisticated production approach.
Currently, Natasha has just released her first single of the year Tomorrow Will Come after partnering up and recording a series of new material with her New York team. They have helped Natasha come closer to her core, and really key in on her niche of music through these new songs. Tomorrow Will Come, out now, is the first of the songs in which Natasha will finally get to share all the hard work she’s poured into her music in the last 2 years since her 2016 freshman EP release. Although will be returning to her home base of Los Angeles next year, she is currently in France and she performs with a talented cast of musicians in the UK.
Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?
I grew up in the southern California mountains in a town called Idyllwild. I loved the stage from an early age. I sang, I danced, I did musical theatre. Then when I living in LA for quite some time I took acting and singing lessons but was too shy to put myself out there at that point. It wasn’t until some years later after having some life experiences that I decided I needed to become an artist. I performed the South florida music scene for a while with a couple bands, and eventually started writing songs with them before breaking off on my own to become a solo artist. I then took some time off the stage and delved deep into writing and started playing piano, then guitar which had always been a lifelong goal. After the release of my freshman EP in 2016
I moved to Europe for a couple years and I now perform my original music with some really talented musicians in the UK, Finland, and France where Im currently living. Now, since recording the next batch of songs in New York last summer and my newly released single ,Tomorrow Will Come, I am gearing up to promote these songs in and around Europe and the US before I go back to LA to live next year! It’s all happened very progressively for me, step by step with much hard work and determination which is why I’m super grateful. Nothing, has come easy for me.
Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?
Put yourself out there. I made the mistake at the beginning of thinking with just sending out your music would be enough. But you really have to go our there and meet people, build relationships can grow and be sustained in this music world.
Exposed Vocals: Do you ever make mistakes during performances? How do you handle that?
Haha, oh yeah. Most of the time what seems a big deal to you is hardly noticed by the crowd. But if it is noticed just keep going. If you forget a lyric, just make up something or hmm the melody. If you fall, get back up. We are human and bound to make mistakes. I think fans will like you more if they know you are human and make mistakes.
Exposed Vocals: Do you tour? Anything interesting happen on tour that you think our readers would enjoy hearing about?

Exposed Vocals: Any planned studio upgrades? What are you working with now?
I’m collaborating with a few different people from the US to the U.K.. I have a lot of songs in the works to be recorded soon, and a steady stream of releases about to happen this year. It’s been a year of writing, writing, writing!
Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?
I try and promote online through social media and through gigs but it can be hard sometimes when your spending countless hours trying to promote and have hardly enough time to be creative. It can be full time job!
Exposed Vocals: If you could perform anywhere and with any artists (Dead or Alive) where and who would it be with? Why?
The Hollywood Bowl and the Staples Center cause that’s where I’m from so it would be really special to me. And of coarse
Madison Square Gardens and Times Square! Oh man, I have so many! Prince, Steven Tyler, Madonna, Cindi Lauper, Bruno Mars, Sia….Mad respect for all of them
Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?
Yes I have new song to be released on June 8th! EMPTY SPACES … it’s a song written about bullying. It’s close to my heart and if anything I hope to be able to relate to people. I tend to be drawn to darker songs, not because I like depressing things but that’s where the heart can really open and share sometimes.
Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?
Definitely in the health and fitness or medicine. A chiropractor or doctor. I like helping people.
Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in the next year or so?
Lots of new music!
