Music Review and interview with Cordiero
“Who is Cordiero?”
“Hello my name is Cordiero and I’m a hip hop artist as well as a spoken word/ poet. I’m 25 yrs old and an Illinois native. I have recently released an official EP project of the title “#MidnightExpression”. It took 6 yrs due to mixed emotions of the craft along with family issues, legal issues, and etc. It’s been a long time coming for me so it’s now or never. The link below is my SoundCloud where you can listen to my #MidnightExpression EP”
Music Review for #AA
Cordiero is a rapper/ hip-hop artist hailing from Illinois. He was exposed to the harsh realities of life on the streets from childhood and getting caught up with legal issues was inevitable… Now, he’s back on his grind and AA has had an amazing response from fans. Listen to the track below:
AA is a track that serves as a taster for his E.P. #MidnightExpression. This is where Cordiero lays down his aggressive, captivating rapping style. He has a great capacity for rhythm and rhyme, delivered in a seamless, flowing way.
Overall, this is a powerful piece of modern hip-hop that packs a real punch and this is a great choice for a single – it’s insanely catchy, very well produced and showcases Cordiero as a hip-hop artist with a strong personality and style. It also has a strong summer vibe, so it’s the perfect time to put it out. It would also be a great track to take to radio – and that is exactly what we did. Listen to AA being played on KISS 104.7 FM (below)

Exclusive Interview:
Exposed Vocals: How did you hear about Exposed Vocals? What made you decide to sign up?
Cordiero (Ro): I heard about Exposed Vocals through a childhood friend/ music partner Jay Rosé. He showed me an email he received from you guys and selflessly thought of me for this opportunity. So if this start takes me any where I owe him big time. So that was the prelude to me signing up.
Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?
Cordiero (Ro): I grew up as an Illinois native in the country east of Kankakee called Hopkins Park. Growing up was smooth yet crazy but not like how it is today. I always had dreams of making it out as an actor before music became a love of mine. But like many before me I was told about good jobs with great benefits. “Why follow a dream? That’s all it is.. you need to snap back into reality.” Is what I was told or it was always a plan B. I turned to writing because I didn’t trust people as a vault to my problems. You’ll ask them to pray for you and they’ll prey on you. Using your symptoms as the latest gossip. Soon around 7th grade I put my writings to music.
Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?
Cordiero ( Ro ): Well, I was always infatuated with the Pharaohs and Egyptian Gods growing up. Hearing so much bad about them actually drawn me closer to finding out more about them. And it just so happens that my first name ends in Ro so Pha(R)a(O)h and Cordie(RO) makes it perfect for a transition to take place in the future in my career.
Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?
Cordiero ( Ro ): I’m all for it! You have to give the people something for free. That’s how you remain relevant because we all know people will pack and move on to the next hot thing but your loyal fans with always be the foundation. You’ll see all that money back when you’re touring.
Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?
Cordiero ( Ro ): Consistency and Perseverance! Your work ethic tells a lot about you. Have to keep your feet on the pedal. I’m still small myself in the public eye but that’s the fuel to my fire when you see someone on the world stage you know you better than.
Exposed Vocals: Do you ever make mistakes during performances? How do you handle that?
Cordiero ( Ro ): Practice makes permanent. I make mistakes on purpose to learn how to improvise and finesse to the point only I can identify my flaws in my craft.
Exposed Vocals: Do you tour? Anything interesting happen on tour that you think our readers would enjoy hearing about?
Cordiero ( Ro ): I haven’t done any touring yet but I’ll be sure to come to tell how it is haha
Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?
Cordiero ( Ro ): I gather inspiration from all over. You really can’t help it. The most annoying time to have the most creative thoughts to come to you is when you’re trying to sleep. Lol.. but hey if you wanna stay sharpened on your craft get your butt up and do what time calls for you to do. My writing process is to always write what comes to mind. It’s a reason for them thoughts.
Exposed Vocals: Do you have a band website? What online platforms do you use to share your music?
Cordiero ( Ro ): Right now I’m only on SoundCloud @iAm_R0
Exposed Vocals: What are some really embarrassing songs that we might find on your mp3 player?
Cordiero ( Ro ): None anymore! I remember on one track I said, “Vegetables good for the body can I taste your tulips”… lol that’s when I knew rhyming was just the basic part to rapping intellectual insight soon enough took place.
Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?
Cordiero ( Ro ): I would invest into my future and set aside tuition for my daughter. Technically there’s no such thing as time off. I was on vacation thoughts and creativity won’t rest up so I’ll end up working any way.
Exposed Vocals: Any planned studio upgrades? What are you working with now?
Cordiero ( Ro ): As of now I’m focused on dropping singles. Creating a buzz before my next project.
Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?
Cordiero ( Ro ): I use every social media app there is. Until I put out visuals all I can do is share links and MP3’S. Some work is better than none taking some steps is better than going no where.
Exposed Vocals: If you could perform anywhere and with any artists (Dead or Alive) where and who would it be with? Why?
Cordiero ( Ro ): Ah man I would love to perform in the United Kingdom or London with Erykah Badu. Her Consciousness and the elements of good vibes would surely be everything in person if she has the same effect thru speakers and headphones.
Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?
Cordiero ( Ro ): Mainly be on the look out for a lot of singles. There will be another project but as of now check out my EP #MidnightExpression Avaliable on SPOTIFY, Audiomack.com, TIDAL, iTunes, Google Play, and Soundcloud.com @iAm_R0
Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?
Cordiero ( Ro ): Acting most definitely. I love watching movies and quoting them so I feel that it would be a perfect 1-2 punch for my career.
Exposed Vocals: Do you remember buying your first album? Who was it? What was going through your head?
Cordiero ( Ro ): The first album I ever purchased was in 8th grade when 50 cent dropped his debut classic album “Get Rich or Die Tryin”. That album went nuts with one of my personal favorite single “Many Men”. I loved the story telling and my first thought was he took it to a whole different view than Slick Rick and Scarface did.
Exposed Vocals: How do you juggle the rest of your responsibilities while trying to stay ahead in your music life?
Cordiero ( Ro ): Nothing comes easy but if it’s worth having you’ll make time to go get it.
Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in 2015?
Cordiero ( Ro ): Good music like I’m signed to Ye.
