Issoufou Amadou – Sadness
Issoufou Amadou creates sonic origami on the multi-faceted, multi-layered “Sadness”. Rhythms have a tactile, intimate and intricate quality to them. Never overdoing anything, Issoufou Amadou allows everything to simply teem with life. Utilizing a loose style to everything, Issoufou Amadou’s vocals rests front and center of it all. Wordless choirs join him emphasizing an otherworldly kind of presence. His attention to storytelling works wonders, while rhythms emerge out of the careful piano and drums. By letting all these elements balance themselves out in such a perfect fashion, the entirety of the track unfurls in such a gorgeous manner. A neat balance between electronics and the acoustic comes together wonderfully, creating a sound that has a unique satisfying quality to it.

Synthesizers introduce the track. Upon the beats entering into the mix things truly begin in earnest. The piano offers a wonderful counterpoint to the overall temperament. By the time the vocals enter into the sound the song gains such a joy for life. Allowing all of these layers to intermingle and intertwine the way the track explores a great world feels wonderful. Choosing this tact results in something that becomes so balanced. Issoufou Amadou carefully presents a whole series of vignettes, allowing for the song to touch the very soul. Towards the end of the piece a defiance rises above, one committed to finding one’s path.
