Exposed Vocals: How did you hear about Exposed Vocals? What made you decide to sign up?
Mark: I heard about you guys while on twitter.
Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?
Jo: I grew up in Rochdale Lancs England. I wanted to become an artist from childhood, because my dad blasted music when my mum went to work. And felt music in me with a passion.
Mark: I grew up in Slough England I’ve always loved music and wanted to be an artist since my mum played Elvis and Tom Jones and I saw Guns and Roses on a tv special
Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?
We came up with the name SECTIONED as we have both been on section at some point in our lives, which made an impact and have experienced, how do deal with life in a more mindfull and better way.
Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?
We are all for it. As we have only been together since October 2014 we have only put rough demo’s on soundcloud of ideas and early rehearsals. Jo has given away music and has raised money for charity, very early work.
Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?
We are looking for ourselves at the moment but, would recommend all social media sites and yourself.
Exposed Vocals: Do you ever make mistakes during performances? How do you handle that?
We do make mistakes, but carry on regardless. We l.earn from it
Exposed Vocals: Do you tour? Anything interesting happen on tour that you think our readers would enjoy hearing about?
We are hoping to get on a tour soon, so no stories as yet.
Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?
Mark: I tend to play around with chord progression and then show them to Jo and the magic happens from Jo.
Jo: I use experiences from my past and life that builds a story in a lot of my songs. And sing even while walking around town, also when I listen to Mark’s progression we are connected and relaxed around each other. I feel I can be myself. Magic
Exposed Vocals: Do you have a band website? What online platforms do you use to share your music?
We only use soundcloud and twitter at the moment. We will be building a website soon.
Exposed Vocals: What are some really embarrassing songs that we might find on your mp3 player?
Mark: Yoda Weird all Yankovic
Jo: I love all my music, and don’t care.
Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?
We would buy a mansion and help as many people as possible. And still write songs due to the inspiration and that costs nothing.
Exposed Vocals: Any planned studio upgrades? What are you working with now?
We are recording our album on the 5th March 2015 at demark st. studio . At the moment we are polishing off our songs, getting ready to record.
Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?
We use facebook, twitter and soundcloud at the moment but hoping to find more ways asap.
Exposed Vocals: If you could perform anywhere and with any artists (Dead or Alive) where and who would it be with? Why?
Jo: I would love to perform with Axl Rose because I loved Guns n’ Roses growing up, and sing civil war with AXL.
Mark: If there is anyone it has to be Eddie Vedder from pearl jam, love all pj stand for.
Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?
Jo will be performing at Silverstone race track and nominated for an award.
Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?
Mark: locked up somewhere sectioned.
Jo: me too.
Exposed Vocals: Do you remember buying your first album? Who was it? What was going through your head?
Jo: Rock anthem compilations, love ballad. Because I couldn’t make my mind up.
Mark: Poison by Alice Cooper, really don’t know why.
Exposed Vocals: How do you juggle the rest of your responsibilities while trying to stay ahead in your music life?
We are really just putting our music first at the moment and trying to stay ahead with our other responsibilities.
Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in 2015?
Our first album, hoping to tour or play some festivals in England and get some radio air time
