Exposed Vocals just sat down to an interview with ‘Virtual Dj Izzy’
Virtual Dj Izzy is a dj from the future. One look at her videos and you’ll be convinced this is not your average club dj. What sets her apart is her carefully crafted futuristic visual videos and insane energy when preforming. Every online set has a different theme for any mood you’re in and they’ll be sure to get you dancing and on your feet.
Virtual reality is the future and she’s pioneering the way for musicians everywhere transforming music from a solely auditory experience to a visual one as well. With already over 25,000 subscribers on YouTube and gigs lines up all around Florida this definitely won’t be the last you’ll hear of her
Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?
I grew up in a sort of retired old people town called Cape Coral. There was never much to do there and I never felt like I fit in there so when I left for college it was like a whole new world. I discovered electronic dance music and was instantly drawn into it because of the energy. I never heard such crazy noises or seen so many people go so hard to the sound of an epic beat drop. I couldn’t stop myself from dancing either and I kinda fell in love with it.
Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?
Well I’m still a small artist myself but what I have learned is that you actually need to work hard to accomplish your goals. No one sees the behind the scenes stuff and its not all gonna come overnight. Also take every opportunity to grow, learn, and preform. You never know who might be listening.
Exposed Vocals: Do you ever make mistakes during performances? How do you handle that?
Everyone makes mistakes but rarely do people actually notice them. I handle them by pretending they didn’t happen haha.
Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?
Social media has played a huge role in the promotion and distribution of my music. In today’s day and age I can literally message someone across the world and tell them to check out my videos. And I do. I’ve found that if you get personal with people they’ll often respond and become interested in you as well. It’s all about the connections you make.
Exposed Vocals: If you could perform anywhere and with any artists (Dead or Alive) where and who would it be with? Why?
It would be a dream to preform with Alison Wonderland, she was the dj that inspired me to be who I am today. I think I would be content preforming with her anywhere but EDC Las Vegas would be nice. I think we would put on one hell of a show.
Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?
I’m working on launching my own virtual reality dj app so people can really see what my vision is. I want to make my music a next level visual and auditory experience and with virtual reality glasses and new technology you can do exactly that. Eventually I’d love to have virtual reality rave, but we’ll start with the app first.
Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?
I would probably be in the crowd listening to the music haha. I really can’t imagine myself doing anything else because I love it so much, but if I had to choose it would have something to do with visual arts or video making.
Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in the next year or so?
Performances, cool new videos, and epic virtual reality stuff.
