Exposed Vocals just sat down to an exclusive interview with Christian Chavez
I am a young artist dedicated to bringing out raw emotion in people and help them confront their emotions. I want people to be
taken away from this world when listening to my music so they can better gather their thoughts. I use my personal experiences to tell a story through music, in hopes others will confront their emotions productively.
Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?
I grew up in a small town called “Monte Vista” in Colorado, I decided to become an artist because I always loved to write, and I used to write poems and short novels, so when I realized I can rap and sing I just translated my writing skills to song creation and fell in love with it.
Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?
I’m still small and local myself but some tips on a moral level would be to not doubt yourself once and to just become tunnel vision with what you want to do, also use social media to your advantage when it comes to promotion.
Exposed Vocals: Do you ever make mistakes during performances? How do you handle that?
I haven’t had any live performances yet but many times in recording sessions I’ll screw up. When that happens you have to roll with it, sometimes those mess-ups lay the foundation for better ideas.
Exposed Vocals: Do you tour? Anything interesting happen on tour that you think our readers would enjoy hearing about?
Im not there just yet haha
Exposed Vocals: Any planned studio upgrades? What are you working with now?
I plan to have a studio with many aesthetic upgrades not so much hardware, I feel the mood has to be set correctly to deliver a more genuine feeling. Right now I record off a blue spark XL microphone, and use an HP Jaguar laptop with “SONAR home studio” to edit my music. And just a pencil and a journal. But I want a studio that sets a vibe for the artists.
Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?
I feel in an age of technology its most important to promote on social media, it can spread your music like wildfire. And reach people from all different walks of life.
Exposed Vocals: If you could perform anywhere and with any artists (Dead or Alive) where and who would it be with? Why?
I would love to perform at Madison Square Garden with many artists including Justin Bieber, Stevie Wonder, Drake, Ed Sheeran, Michael Jackson, Frank Ocean, To name a few, I picked Madison Square Garden because it’s a very iconic venue, and those artists are a very big inspiration to me.
Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?
Yes, My debut album titled “Alone” will be out very soon at a very personal date for me, but I have two singles off the album releasing very soon, The album will tell the stories of my first love, the things I’ve learned from it, and how it affects my future as a person, really its letting loose everything I’ve kept to myself but more importantly it relates to all of us, we’ve all felt lonely, it shows how we can’t bottle up our emotions how it can become dangerous, even fatal and hurt others around us, Alone is universal and all I can hope is it touches people deep down so that people can get out their thoughts and emotions and better gather their feelings. It also lets people know that they’re not ALONE.
Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?
I would want to be a writer or an actor, I love creating things as do many people. And I find those professions very passionate and expressive and I love that.
Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in the next year or so?
The people who support me can expect me to further branch out on more subjects of everyday life and more importantly watch me grow as an artist which will in return present better content for the people who support me, a lot of good music, more well-constructed songs, and lyrics as I grow and learn as an artist and a person
Exposed Vocals: Any Shout-outs?
