Remedies – High As The Moon “It’s a beautiful piece of music”
Fantastic song, the consideration and effort that has gone into every little detail makes for a sublime listening experience. The introduction alone has you gripped by that unfolding drum line, following the rhythm along, letting it take over you. The instrumentation has a full yet organic warmth that seems to fuse the delicacy of indie pop with something much more crisp, resulting in an overall brightness that sounds great at high volumes. The piano riff running in those moments has a distinct sense of character and story telling to it that makes it affect you quite deeply, emotionally, and it’s incredibly memorable and therefore later recognisable as a signature trait of the track.
When the leading vocal comes into play, a moment which you find yourself awaiting as the instrumentation seems so vibrant in itself, the voice floats alongside the soundscape beautifully. Everything works well together, and there’s a certain passion and humanity to the addition of the vocal and indeed the lyrics that finishes the whole experience off beautifully. The song is poetic and dreamlike, fusing self reflection with desire, combing elements of now with elements of tomorrow, and the music gorgeously reinforces all of this as the song progresses.
The whole thing bursts into life from the first few moments, yet the weight of it falls away at those gentler moments, allowing for some real contrast – the effect of which is that the return to the bigger moments hits with additional impact.
It’s a beautiful piece of music that has been written and performed with a heartfelt passion for music and expression. The sound works so much better at high volumes, rather than some distant wash of atmosphere. To have it completely surround you is much more mesmerising.
