Slick 64 – Hoolah “beats have been beautifully produced”
Slick 64’s music offers up the good vibes to get you calmly through a busy work day. The beats have been beautifully produced, creatively crafted and then polished in a manner that lets the sound really just surround you. The artist’s leading vocal floats well alongside of the beat and there are certain changes within this particular track that help keep things fresh and interesting throughout. The inclusion of both the rap vocal, detailing the personal elements, the drive, the climb, and then also the openly and even joyfully melodic moments, makes for something that seems to fit well into the hip-hop, trip-hop and pop worlds simultaneously.
Listen to Hoolah
The musicality of this particular piece takes a fairly dramatic chord progression which, if it were the sound of an organic string ensemble, might come through as fairly heavy and intense. However, this particular fusion of synths creates a thoroughly peaceful and ambient backdrop, never lacking in creativity, but maintaining that smooth and easy going energy that is the essence of the track’s vibe. You then get brief snippets of story telling, interspersed with those memorable melodic moments, the sort that can easily be absorbed as part of the mood, or if you choose – the sort that can be the backbone for the song, the thing that brings listeners together, brings them back to press play again and again; a sort of end of summer anthem that hits in a familiar and instantly recognisable way.
There’s also underlying feeling of togetherness to the lyrics in general which further feeds into this anthem-like energy and highlights the artist as someone with a positive and hopeful message. There’s always room for more positivity in our lives and music is a huge driving force in achieving that state of mind.
