[Red Pill Review] Bria Cheri – ‘Here With Me’ “meeting of the nostalgic and the fresh is a pleasure to listen to”
This song brings about the warm and laid back vibes of nineties R&B, the pop-fusion takeover that brought us great melodies, great leading vocals, and stylish yet simple musical backdrops that allowed the heart of the song and the sound of the artists involved to lead the way. The leading artist’s voice fits in perfectly with ambiance of this piece of music.
The development throughout allows the performance to cater to the gentle moments just as often as the brighter ones, and this structural variation helps keep things interesting. What also adds to this effect is the interesting switch in instrumentation as the varying sections come into play. The heavily processed, electronic riff has a certain level of individuality and originality to it, and it somehow strikes as adding further to the smoothness, whilst simultaneously bringing in a touch of something fresh and new.
The artist’s voice is the driving force, but it’s refreshing to hear a little bit of creative freedom in the musical mix as well. The minimal energy of the song for the most part makes for an easy listening experience, but that switch, that drop to the hook, creates something else entirely. Still easy to listen to, but hitting with a bit more impact now, adding that satisfying rise in intensity, that peak moment of expression, at which point everything comes together.
The song has been really well done, this meeting of the nostalgic and the fresh is a pleasure to listen to, and the artist’s voice has everything necessary to make it count – the softness, the strength, the emotion, and effortless reach between the lows and the highs. There’s a passion to the voice that again draws comparisons with the original R&B sound.
