Alexandrite, Is A Rock Band From San Bernardino CA, Lead by Christopher Michael Ferrall who as work with Muscians Such as. Frankie Banali and Chuck Wright (Quiet Riot), Lanny Cordola (House of Lords) Matt Sorum (The Cult) (Guns and Roses), and Glen Sobel Alice Cooper.
Currently In the Studio working on there new CD called Drama at the Event Horizon due out 06/09/15
Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?
Alexandrite: I grew up in San Bernardino, 45 minutes Big Bear Mountain Resorts and 45 minute from So Cal Beaches. The First time I heard Ratt on the radio with Round and Round I knew at that moment I wanted to be a RockStar and been chasing that dream since. But now a lil more Older and Chunkier
Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?
Alexandrite: Alexandrite is such a rare color stones in the world and at many times the stone can be more expensive than a diamond. It change’s color from when you are outside in the light to inside. So for me it expsress my growth as a musician and allows me to change it up from time to time . Many of the Songs on the 2 Alexandrite Albums (The Milkweed Chronicle’s) (Peppermint) were a mixture of 3 other bands I headed up, with some new tracks as well as demos. I wanted my music to be placed under 1 Band Name. There for I created Alexandrite.
Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?
Alexandrite: I think with Spotify do such a great job with Premium and free accounts that pay artist and also with youtube stepping up and working with companies like Rumblefish Artist are getting paid for there music.
Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?
Alexandrite: Hire a company to work your music
Exposed Vocals: Do you ever make mistakes during performances? How do you handle that?
Alexandrite: I am a Rock singer so I can’t sing that great anyway so here is what I do I Drink lots of Beer and have fun cause no one In the audience care if you make a mistake if there drinking and having fun as well
Exposed Vocals: Do you tour? Anything interesting happen on tour that you think our readers would enjoy hearing about?
Alexandrite: I would have to remember to answer I PLEAD THE 5th
Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?
Alexandrite: I write about my life, Heart Break, Addiction to Rockstar’s, Being in Love,Cancer, A song can take me 10 minutes to 5 years
Exposed Vocals: Do you have a band website? What online platforms do you use to share your music?
Alexandrite: I prefer if people hear my music on Spotify, I do have all the normal Social Media but don’t care much for them or even use them much
Exposed Vocals: What are some really embarrassing songs that we might find on your mp3 player?
Alexandrite: Well according to my Kids. The whole damn thing it’s all 80s Hair Metal
Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?
Alexandrite: I would put the money in an annuity and live off the monthly payments.
Exposed Vocals: Any planned studio upgrades? What are you working with now?
Alexandrite: I am working on the new Album partly from my home studio and partly at Studio called Skinny Village Recording in Pinon Hills. Were we are currently working on the new album due out 06/09/15 called Alexandrite (Drama at the Event Horizon)
Exposed Vocals: If you could perform anywhere and with any artists (Dead or Alive) where and who would it be with? Why?
Alexandrite: I would perform with the band Ratt with the original members that are still around today at The Orange Pavilion In San Bernardino. It’s were I saw all the great concerts growing up but now they don’t really do many show’s there now what a shame.
Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?
Alexandrite: Just Working on the new up and coming Album Alexandrite (Drama at the Event Horizon) and I am going to start a Radio Promotion to promote some songs off the last to albums to build buzz about the new album. Kind of like TV does when they do marathons before the new season
Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?
Alexandrite: Heck man I would have so much EXTRA money what ever I wanted
Exposed Vocals: Do you remember buying your first album? Who was it? What was going through your head?
Alexandrite: The First Album I bought was Ratt Invasion of Your Privacy FYI still my favorite Album of all time. I wanted to be that band. You should listen to that Album sometime It will take you right back to the Hair Metal days From Hollywood
Exposed Vocals: How do you juggle the rest of your responsibilities while trying to stay ahead in your music life?
Alexandrite: Does anyone anymore every really get ahead in music. I manage my music myself now as well and run the record company side myself now. It’s actually a lot easier in today’s world
Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in 2016?
Alexandrite: Re releasing older Single’s like Will be Gone, Man it Hurts, Rockstar, and The Forgotten Few to get ready for the new album.
