Knox Fortune “Lil’ Thing”
Following his extensive stints as a sideman, the Chicago singer and producer is finally taking his center stage with his debut solo LP. With the new visuals, “Lil’ Thing” is one of the cuts slated to appear on Fortune’s inaugural release; It’s a breezy, low-key track primed for mid-summer hangs, with an equally comfy visual to match:
Director Jackson James shot the clip in 16mm at Chillers Paradise, Fortune’s former home, which was recently torn down. The clip offers an intimate look at Fortune’s old Chicago stomping grounds, his pals’ impressive repertoire of skateboard tricks, and of course Knox himself.
As for the track itself, it’s a lightweight summertime funk jam that demonstrates Fortune’s vocal abilities as well as his ability to create the kind of atmosphere you want to linger in. Knox continues to up his profile as a producer and solo artist, proving he can take on the limelight himself. “Lil’ Thing” is a perfect summer record which showcases his singing, songwriting and producing chops (with some help of the Chi’s finest, of course.)
