EXPOSED VOCALS: SO TELL US YOUR STORY. WHERE DID YOU GROW UP? WHAT MADE YOU DECIDE TO BECOME A PRODUCER?
My Names is Ramon Garcia aka (MD-on the beat), I spent most of my childhood in a small town called San Joaquin a few miles away from Fresno California, also known as the heart of the Central Valley. Ever Since I was a kid, the interest in Hip Hop has increased and not faded. I spent most of my teenage years listening to playlist mixed with 2pac, Easy-E, Mac Dre, and Dr.Dre. I started making beats when a friend of mine decided to become an underground rapper but didn’t have the funds to invest in recording equipment and exclusive instrumentals. We decided to learn how to make our own beats and use alternative cheap studio equipment. After playing with producing software, sounds kits, loops and VST’s. We created music to the best of our abilities.
EXPOSED VOCALS: SINCE EVERYONE WAS A START-UP ONCE, CAN YOU GIVE ANY SMALLER OR LOCAL BANDS OR ARTISTS LOOKING TO GET GIGS AND AIRPLAY SOME TIPS?
Practice as much as you can, learn the business side and work hard. You can’t expect results without spending multiple hours in the studio or your workstation.
EXPOSED VOCALS: DO YOU EVER MAKE MISTAKES DURING PERFORMANCES? HOW DO YOU HANDLE THAT?
Most of my work is done behind scenes, but sometimes when an artist records over my beats, I always have the tendency of wanting to make changes to the beats for a better fit, but of course, I have to let the artist make the best of it.
EXPOSED VOCALS: DO YOU TOUR? ANYTHING INTERESTING HAPPEN ON TOUR THAT YOU THINK OUR READERS WOULD ENJOY HEARING ABOUT?
As a producer, it’s not really necessary to tour. But I do get excited when I listen to artists from all over the world record over my work. It feels amazing when I get to hear the finished project.
EXPOSED VOCALS: ANY PLANNED STUDIO UPGRADES? WHAT ARE YOU WORKING WITH NOW?
I’m extremely attached with my current software and studio equipment, but change is good, and I will definitely invest in new equipment. My current Versions are FL Studio 12, Akai Professional MPK249 49-Key Controller, Yamaha HS5 Powered Studio Monitor Pair, Nexus 2, and others.
EXPOSED VOCALS: HOW DO YOU FIND WAYS TO PROMOTE YOUR MUSIC? WHAT WORKS BEST FOR YOU?
Word-of-mouth marketing and Social Media is what works best for me. My fans, customer, and followers are extremely supportive and helpful.
EXPOSED VOCALS: SO, WHAT’S NEXT? ANY NEW UPCOMING PROJECTS THAT YOU WANT TO TALK ABOUT?
Right now I’m working on my new Non-Exclusive Album “MD-ON Vol. 4” which will include 6 Instrumentals with the option of MP3 or WAV format Download. The album will be released mid-august.
EXPOSED VOCALS: IF YOU WEREN’T MAKING MUSIC, WHAT WOULD YOU BE DOING?
The usual, spending time with family and friends. My website and beat have not affected my normal life at all.
EXPOSED VOCALS: WHAT SHOULD FANS LOOK FORWARD TO IN THE NEXT YEAR OR SO?
A lot of new beats, and hopefully more collaborations with the top artists.
EXPOSED VOCALS: ANY SHOUT-OUTS?
