My name is Daniel Monteiro, artist name Dany M. I’m from Portugal and I’m 40.
I play guitar since 15 years old and been very influenced by guitar players like Eric Clapton, Mark Knofler, Gary Moore and David Gilmour.
I write songs since I was 18, and been part of a lots of bands, most important one “100 Complexos”. In 2003 my last band broke up and I was so down, I only returned playing in 2010, inspired by family and friends.
Since my return I had only one thing in my mind, that was do a solo album with my original songs. So I started singing lessons, and got my hands to work. In 2016 I entered 100 off records studio with the producer Vitor Neves and started recording my debut album called “Beyond Reason”.
The album was released in April this year and since then I’ve been having great reviews, and i’m promoting it to the maximum people I can. I dream go international and get to know the world as I play my songs!

EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW:
Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?
Dany M: Well I was born and raised in Porto (Portugal) in 1976 (i’m 40). My dad loves music and always had great records around me to listen, so since I know me, I love music. I remember when I was fifteen, I was watching TV and just saw this amazing guitar player that became my favourite named Eric Clapton, performing on Albert Hall. The album was “24 nights”, and I remember thinking then “This is what I want to do for life!”. That year I started to learn guitar.
Exposed Vocals: When did song writing come into your life?
Dany M: Well I’m not very disciplined, I used to study guitar lessons like any other, but always loved to explore the instrument and try new thing and sounds, so when I entered my first band at the age of 19, my first songs started to came out.
Exposed Vocals: I see you have experience as a guitar player in bands, when did you decide to go solo?
Dany M: Well the last band I was in, was in 2003, and everything ended so badly I stopped playing live for years. In 2010 inspired by my daughter’s birth and motivated by my wife, family and friends, decided I wanted a fresh start, and as I didn’t wanted to go through that band’s bad experience again, I decided to start this solo project.
Exposed Vocals: After taking such a long break from music, was hard to come back?
Dany M: Was a bit rusty first, but with some time begun writing and getting more motivated. When you have a dream, and a passion, things start to move forward.
Exposed Vocals: Is this your first time singing?
Dany M: I used to do backing vocals, but never was a singer, to do that I took some singing lessons to enhance my vocal performance. I’m still getting used to be the front man!
Exposed Vocals: Your debut album “Beyond Reason” came out on April of this year, how does it feel to look at it now?
Dany M: I look at it with great pride, the musicians were exceptional, the production is very high standard, and of course the most important part is that it’s having good public’s acceptance.
Exposed Vocals: How do you describe your album? Who are your influences?
Dany M: My album has a wide range of styles, I think what comes up most is Pop-Rock, but I have many influences from Jazz and Blues. I’m very influenced by guitar players like Eric Clapton, Mark Knofler and David Gilmour.
Exposed Vocals: About your lyrics, what is the message you wanted to pass to your audience?
Dany M: There is lot of love in this album, different kinds of love, and different love stories. But also there are songs that talk about how important is to be different and embrace what makes us different from every other person, songs about change and mortality.
Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?
Dany M: When you are in a small country and trying to reach out to the world, internet’s your best friend! I use facebook a lot, I have a youtube channel, and try to get reviews, interviews from bloggers and webzines. I’m trying to build a strong online presence.
Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?
Dany M: Well right now, I’m promoting this album and I’m trying to reach to a bigger audience. Later this year, going to have some gigs. Of course I dream about doing the second album!!!
Exposed Vocals: Do you ever make mistakes during performances? How do you handle that?
Dany M: Me?! Of course not!!!Ah!ah!ah! Just kidding! I’m human, so that happens! I act natural, and keep on playing! It’s like Freddie sang: “show must go on”.
Exposed Vocals: If you could perform anywhere and with any artists (Dead or Alive) where and who would it be with? Why?
Dany M: I’ve spoke of some great guitar players before, but the one I love the most is Gary Moore (R.I.P.). When I listen to him play, that guitar sings like a voice, and that’s the aim of every musician. So me and Gary Moore with a great band behind us on Wembley Stadium, before thousands of people that is my answer!
Exposed Vocals: Any Shout-outs?
Dany M: Thank you very much for this opportunity, and hope all readers check out my album on digital stores, my youtube channel and follow me on facebook.
