Exposed Vocals: How did you hear about Exposed Vocals? What made you decide to sign up?

I was contacted via twitter.

Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?

I grew up in Connecticut and was very involved in the classical and jazz world. I was lucky enough to experience the beauty of the natural acoustics in cathedral churches, singing in Europe as a kid. I fell in love with large empty spaces, and that definitely influences my music style today.

Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?

Honora is pronounced Honor with an uh at the end. Most people can’t say it right the first time, and although my birth name was Honora, my mother couldn’t stand the constant mispronunciation and decided to change my name. I will never let that go, I think Honora is perfectly fitting for me.

Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?

It’s hard to not give away free music. Everyone else is, and as independent artists, it’s our goal to spread and share it. I am not surprised however that Apple, an electronics company, has much more power of sales than any other label does… Kind of scary.

Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?
I never write anything before the music. I need to be inspired by the sounds and then I let the words come as they flow. Often I hit record, I listen back and I’ll do that several times. It’s always interesting to hear what my subconscious was pondering.

Exposed Vocals: Do you have a band website? What online platforms do you use to share your music?

Exposed Vocals: What are some really embarrassing songs that we might find on your mp3 player?

Just old music I recorded when I was 16. It took me a while to find my artistic voice and sound which was completely off when I was young. One thing I enjoy is voice acting and sounding like other people. It comes naturally, but that made it nearly impossible to discover what was truly mine.

Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?

Traveling the world, eating delicious food and drinking wine and working on albums with amazing people. I would probably do an album inspired by travel and find engineers and musicians in each place.

Exposed Vocals: Any planned studio upgrades? What are you working with now?

I am still using logic 9… I hate change in that sense.

Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?

I really wish it was all based on attraction but I am with a licensing company and I hope to have a few placements this year. That I think is a great way to be heard.

Exposed Vocals: If you could perform anywhere and with any artists (Dead or Alive) where and who would it be with? Why?

With Massive Attack as a vocalist and we would be in a very old cathedral. It would just feed my soul.

Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?

I am doing a lot of work as a vocalist. I did produce my first set of songs, but now I’m taking a break and just being a vocalist and writer for several other people.

Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?

My roommate is from Tuscany Italy. I told her family that if all else fails, I’m moving to Italy and living on their wine farm to learn the process.

Exposed Vocals: Do you remember buying your first album? Who was it? What was going through your head?

Oh yeah, Ricky Martin, on my walkman everyday after school. The first think I would do was run home and play the album on repeat.

Exposed Vocals: How do you juggle the rest of your responsibilities while trying to stay ahead in your music life?

Thats a confusing science I’m still trying to master. But, relaxing and enjoying are two very important ways to love what you do.

Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in 2015?

Music videos and lots of new music.
