“track has a great vibe from the start” Lincoln “L Jay” Jacobs – Way Up
The track has a great vibe from the start, the musical backdrop has a peaceful yet epic sort of feel to it – the music seems like the building moment before a heavy drop, though it remains in this area of limbo throughout, which is unusual but fairly enjoyable. The leading rap vocal adds a contrasting energy to the track, the voice has an urgency and intensity to it, a volume and attitude that is much more attention grabbing than the more dreamlike music that would otherwise allow you to listen and escape. The hip-hop element is strong though and in this respect the contrast has a lot of power. Plus, it’s definitely an original sort of recording – the fusion of the two genres and styles is unexpected, but works well.
The more you listen to the vocal the more the whole track seems to rise in intensity and energy, which is a fairly clever effect, plus the artist’s voice has a great tone to it and the rhythm and flow is consistent and relevant to the vibe. It’s a great energy all in all, a fast delivery, some of the lyrics are lost at first due to the speed of the delivery, but that’s not to take anything away from the skill involved, and in fact is likely to make listeners keen to play the track over. When you do focus on the lyrics there’s a notable level of honesty and emotion and passion, and this is evident more and more as the music progresses and builds. The track is short, less than two minutes makes it notably shorter than many of it’s peers, but the positive effect of this is that it leaves you wanting to hear more, which is a pretty great feeling to pass on to your audience.
