New Interview with Ata Benli
Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?
Ata Benli: I born in Istanbul / Turkey. Being a musician was not my goal at then. I have always wanted to be an actor. I managed to become one at my youth. I have been on lots of different TV series in Turkey. Then I went to Florence / Italy to become an architect. Why not a major career right? After graduation I came back to Istanbul and try to work with my profession. On the other hand I was trying to catch some beat from my heart and decide to go on with music. Now I am a producer and dj in my country. Have a great lead singer, Irem Figen and we tour the country with her.
Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?
Ata Benli: Maybe why not? If it is for public benefit or citizen rights, sure I may.
Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?
Ata Benli: Always dream big as usual? I do not think so… Always try to promote and never give up. Self confidence is a must in our industry. People will try to take you down but only important thing is that how much you can overcome with that. Then it becomes your guardian.
Exposed Vocals: Do you ever make mistakes during performances? How do you handle that?
Ata Benli: Mistakes are the goofs of our job. Of course sometimes it depends on you, sometimes it is your partner. I always try to catch up with the beat again and pretend I did that conciously. Not too much!
