” a wonderfully effortless sound” Daria Tara – Trapped
Trapped has an awesome energy to it from the very first moment. The tripped up, quick-fire nature of the synth rhythm has the effect of making the drum-line seem much more intense that it actually is. As the track unfolds the music intensifies, and the leading vocal driving the melody line and the lyrics fits in perfectly with this. It’s a great song, the melody is really powerful and the vocal presenting it has a wonderfully effortless sound that fits the mood and the evolution of the music with awesome accuracy. Once you get used to the sound, once you settle into the structure of it and familiarise yourself with the voice and with the ‘Trapped’ hook, it very quickly becomes a song that most listeners will be able to relate to and remember with ease.
In a way, the track seems to fuse what initially seems like an electronic-based background, with a little bit of an indie-rock and pop sound. This could quite easily be a modern pop-rock band performing with distortion and keys and high energy, or it could be a DJ and vocalist kind of deal. The great thing about this is that it means the song itself is where the strength lies, so there’s plenty of potential for performances and remixes and alternate versions – whether this is at live shows or in the form of external collaborations, the possibilities seem endless. The sound itself, however, is genuinely enjoyable – you can press play and let the music do the work for you, as great music often does. It’s effective escapism with a fantastic hook melody that captivates and entertains you for the extent of the recording. It would be a pleasure to hear more music from those involved, the energy is great, the songwriting works well, and the sound itself has an ongoing warmth that holds great appeal.
