Exposed Vocals: How did you hear about Exposed Vocals? What made you decide to sign up?

SexTape Famous: Found it through Twitter and saw it was giving indie artists a great chance for some exposure.

Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?

SexTape Famous:  Grew up in Western Canada in the 80s.  Came from a musical family so becoming an artist came naturally.

Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?

SexTape Famous:  It’s a commentary on modern North American society.

Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?

SexTape Famous:   If you are an indie artist the best thing you can do is give your music away for free.  Rather than have 100 people buy a song imagine the impact if 10,000 download it for free.  This has been our experience in the past.  Giving our msic away helps it spread all over the world.

Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?

SexTape Famous: Part of music is art and the other part business.  Take care of business.  Treat your music like a part-time job.  When you come home from working your 9-5 spend time promoting, networking and interacting with your fans.

Exposed Vocals: Do you ever make mistakes during performances? How do you handle that?

SexTape Famous: Oh shit yeah, the trick is to jump right back in.  When you’re an independent artist most people won’t know your songs so they won’t realize you made a mistake if you just smooth it out.

Exposed Vocals: Do you tour? Anything interesting happen on tour that you think our readers would enjoy hearing about?

SexTape Famous:  Toured under a different name and that shit gets wild on the road.  Last tour our DJ disappeared before the show and it turned out he ran away with a woman he said he fell in love with at first sight.  A day later we were at an afterparty and she tried to stab him.

Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?

SexTape Famous: Mostly write in my ride or traveling.  Inspiration comes from life experience.  Inspired by women who are free spirits.

Exposed Vocals: Do you have a band website? What online platforms do you use to share your music?

SexTape Famous:  Since we are just getting started with SexTape Famous we are only on soundcloud.  Eventually we will be everywhere.  We have had talks with some labels about collaborations and promotions.

Exposed Vocals: What are some really embarrassing songs that we might find on your mp3 player?

SexTape Famous: Chaka Khan – Through the Fire

Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?

SexTape Famous:  Travel, travel, travel.  Traveling changes your life for the better.

Exposed Vocals: Any planned studio upgrades? What are you working with now?

SexTape Famous:  As far as home studio, we are looking to upgrade our synths and instruments and try expanding our sounds.

Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?

SexTape Famous:  These days it is all about streaming music so we get on playlists around the web and it helps to gain fans and connections.

Exposed Vocals: If you could perform anywhere and with any artists (Dead or Alive) where and who would it be with? Why?

SexTape Famous: Rick James Bitch

Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?

SexTape Famous: Behind the scenes we are always producing and marketing music.  For SexTape Famous we are producing a series of singles and looking for artists to work with.

Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?

SexTape Famous: Traveling the world.

Exposed Vocals: Do you remember buying your first album? Who was it? What was going through your head?

SexTape Famous: Bought Jimi Hendrix – Are You Experienced.  THC was going through my head and his music blew my young mind.

Exposed Vocals: How do you juggle the rest of your responsibilities while trying to stay ahead in your music life?

SexTape Famous: Mobile tech makes it pretty easy to stay on top of most promotions but, life gets crazy so sometimes you have to sit down and focus to get a lot done.

Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in 2015?

SexTape Famous: A really unique blend of hip hop sounds with sexy instrumentals.  Plan to release a series of singles.
