Exposed Vocals Interviews ‘Far From Holy’
Exposed Vocals: How did you hear about Exposed Vocals?
Far From Holy: I heard about Exposed Vocals via Twitter! I received a follow from you guys and I checked out the site!
What made you decide to sign up?
Far From Holy: Exposed Vocals presents the opportunity for unsigned Artists music to be heard. And as an Artist that is what I crave for: People to simply listen to my music. Each time I see someone has pushed the play button to one of my songs I am filled with joy!
Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?
Far From Holy: I grew up and still reside in a small town outside of Philadelphia. I was always a diehard fan of music, but in the past couple years I picked up a guitar and microphone for the first time and started to teach myself how to play, which this EP captures. I’ve only been playing and writing since 2013. Each day, each song, I am growing as a songwriter, musician, and producer. I look forward to fans being able listen to the growth and changes in my music as I continue to write and record.
Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?
Far From Holy is a journey through my past struggles with drug addiction and how Jesus saved me and blessed me through it all. We all struggle in many ways and I hope my music brings hope, peace, and relief to many of us who are struggling in different areas of our lives.
Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?
I work in the Construction field full time. I find time throughout the work weeks and weekends to record my inner sounds. I have my debut EP featured on farfromholy.bandcamp.com for free! I pray and hope that someday in the future I will be able to focus on Far From Holy full time and make a humble living from my music where I can support a family.
Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?
Far From Holy: I’ve only played a couple live shows so far. I’m fairly new and diving into the scene as well! What I can say though, is simply keep writing and keep recording! The opportunity to play shows will eventually arise.
Exposed Vocals: Do you ever make mistakes during performances? How do you handle that?
Far From Holy: My first live gig at FDR in Philly we definitely made a few mistakes haha, but it didn’t stop us from finishing our set! We were playing outdoors under a bridge and were receiving a lot of delay and feedback sound wise on stage, but from the videos taken and vibe from the crowd, I think we sounded pretty good!
Exposed Vocals: Do you tour? Anything interesting happen on tour that you think our readers would enjoy hearing about?
Far From Holy: Since Far From Holy is a solo project, I will be God-willing forming the band in these next couple weeks and will immediately start rehearsing!! Look out for us!!
Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?
Far From Holy: From my very own home! When I enter my studio I lock in, close the world out, and focus on capturing the sounds of my soul. I usually just sit down with my guitar or piano/synth and record a couple bars and just build on it and see where I can bring it.
Exposed Vocals: Do you have a band website? What online platforms do you use to share your music?
Far From Holy: The band website is under construction, but will be up soon!

Exposed Vocals: What are some really embarrassing songs that we might find on your mp3 player?
Hmm… I’m not sure? But you will find a lot of Nine Inch Nails 🙂
Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?
Far From Holy: However God would have me use it. I’d certainly like to invest in a personal studio where I can record at anytime. If I was given a year off I would thoroughly experiment with sounds, different synths, guitar effects, etc and of course always recording. I would focus entirely on my first studio album.
Exposed Vocals: Any planned studio upgrades? What are you working with now?
Far From Holy: As of now I work on Ableton software to record. My arsenal includes a Shure 58 mic, 12 String Martin Acoustic, Fender Telecaster electric (My favorite guitar), and a Fender acoustic. I am also recording at Philly Sound Studios in South Philadelphia.
Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?
Far From Holy: Word of mouth, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Bandcamp. Can’t wait to play some live shows!!
Exposed Vocals: If you could perform anywhere and with any artists (Dead or Alive) where and who would it be with? Why?
Far From Holy: I’d like to perform with Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails. His music has impacted my life in many great ways and I believe my sound will reflect a little bit of NIN in the future. Red Rocks would be cool, but I really want to play in my hometown at Union Transfer Center. Such an awesome venue with great acoustics and sound system!
Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?
I’m finishing up on a single called 1991 (Down). It should be out within a few months God-willing. Look out for it! I am also looking forward to shooting some music videos in the upcoming weeks.
Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?
Probably working Construction and helping people anyway I can.
Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in 2015?
Far From Holy: A DEBUT STUDIO ALBUM as well as a little local tour in Philly! I’m so excited!
Thanks again!
