“a massively upbeat and exciting vibe” Punx Harmonics – Immaterial
This track has a massively upbeat and exciting vibe straight from the offset. The music has a heavy attitude and style that fortunately works well amongst the creativity of the riffs and the beat and the overall performances presented throughout. The instrumentation is really effective in between the vocal snippets – this way in which the opening verse has been structured is a great method for drawing people in; it has great style, character, and intrigue. It’s highly likely to keep people listening for the full extent of the track, which is pretty much the best effect you can hope for.
What also works well about this track is that the chorus or hook section comes completely unexpectedly; the melody of it has an indie vibe that contrasts significantly with the verse sections, and in fact also with the guitar solo section. As mentioned, the structure of this track is a big part of what makes it work. It’s not a messy, thoughtless arrangement, it’s not a careless or meaningless expression of rock and roll – there’s a lot of thought that’s gone into it, and it’s paid off. The lyrics take a while to sink in, but that’s simply because the music has so much else going on outside of these. Then when you do pick up the words, the concept of ‘nothing but the truth’, then you’re intrigued further and the track comes across as even more interesting.
Its worth (and enjoyable) listening more than once to take it all in. The character and style that comes forth with every bar is consistently fresh and exciting, the song has an addictive energy to it, and furthermore, the sound itself is greatly appealing and so the prospect of more music from those involved is a positive one.
