“takes listeners on a journey through their own emotions” – Ronyz ‘Rebirth’
So much about this track really screams early psy-trance and summer dance anthems. The softness of the synth sounds and riffs comes complete with appropriately contrasting heaviness in the form of the beat, the energy, the occasional distortion, and the general way in which so many different sounds and effects have been creatively included in the mix. There’s a little bit of a retro sound to some of the notes in there, so for these reasons there is definitely something about this piece of music that is unusual and unlike it’s peers. That’s a good thing.
What’s important is that the structure of these instrumental tracks plays out effectively so as to really take listeners on a journey through their own emotions and their own minds. This sort of trance or dance music has only the audio to make it’s mark, so the story needs to be told with the sounds, the build up has to draw you in, the climax has to strike hard and make you want to dance – which this track does.
It raises your energy levels as you listen and it motivates you, makes you feel good, just as music should. The shortness of this particular recording is it’s only let down – these types of tracks can easily go on for six or seven minutes without audiences batting an eyelid. The way the different moments in the recording take place give off a sense of direction and storytelling that could easily be further explored with longer instrumental pieces in order to develop the sound and the experience and express something even more epic. Regardless of the length though, the creators have made their mark and have taken all the best bits of influence to build a track that suits their own preferences. It sounds great.
