WicoSanii – Feel The Beat
‘Feel The Beat’ is a brilliantly atmospheric piece of music to begin with. The initial beat gives off a certain impression, but the following sounds, effects and general ambiance is quite different to what you might have therefore expected. And again, when the vocal part comes in, this is something else that is far from predictable.
The music as an instrumental piece would hold a lot of strength and value in itself. What the vocal adds though is this element of melody, a human touch in some ways, for people to connect to on an additional level. The lyrics are optimistic and any kind of hopefulness is important in music these days. The backing track has so much about it that is experimental and interesting though, and at times the lyrics take away from this – the mood set by the creativity embedded in the instrumental parts has great power in itself, it causes the mind to wander and it draws certain emotions from you as you listen.
The vocal melody and the character of that leading voice add something that is accessible to a wider audience perhaps, so there is definitely value in both sides, and also, the vocal adds a little more excitement and possibility to the concept of future remixes or collaboration ideas. The production on the track is strong, working well together with the instrumentation and the vocal part. That intro to the whole track in particular is one of the best things about the whole piece. The simplicity of it, so well produced, such specifically chosen instruments and effects, it really reaches out and grabs your attention – making you focus and listen and escape to the music. It would be good to hear more instrumental pieces from the creator; the sound has the sort of ambiance to it that classical orchestral performances do, but with a dreamlike and modern touch.
