Exposed Vocals: How did you hear about exposed vocals?

i actually found out about exposed vocals on twitter about three years ago Randy and i had been following each other for awhile on there.

Exposed Vocals: what made you decide to sign up?

well i did my research and I’m like wow i like what they offer to artists to promote themselves and their music because I’m always looking for good promotion for my music and work i love press and exposure aint gonna lie lol.

Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story.

well I’m a working progress im trying to be a better man I’ve been through a lot in my life i had a difficult childhood,growing up i was very on the defense and angry all the time because of what i was dealing with at home with my father so growing up i was sad and angry all the time i didn’t have a lot of fun growing up, i hated my childhood actually now looking back honestly,that’s when i cried the most tears,is when i was growing up but that’s when i discovered music and i always knew i wanted to sing and do music. I’m actually working on and in the process of writing a book about my life as well it’s things that’s happen and im even dealing with now that nobody knows about like close people to me and family don’t even know and I’m revealing it in this book.

Exposed Vocals: How do you think everyone will react to the book and what you put in the book about your life especially those close to you like your family,friends etc.?

i honestly dont care because it’s not about how they feel it’s about helping and healing me and in sharing my story it’s really most importantly about helping someone else,of course i want everyone to support my story and understand it in the book,but those who dont or those who may be negative about it hey it is what it is as long as it helps someone else and it helps better me as well that’s all that matters and a lot of copies sold of course lol joking .

Exposed Vocals: where did you grow up?

i grew up in Cleveland, Ohio

Exposed Vocals: What made you decide to become an artist?

it’s what i always wanted every sense i was 6 years old i always loved music and singing it’s my heart and soul my everything,my life i bury myself in music i remember as a little kid watching michael jackson’s thriller video,janet jackson’s control video,prince’s purple rain movie and video’s whitney houston’s you give good love and how will i know videos i studied them and admired them as artists.

Exposed Vocals: How did you come with that name?

well lorenzo torez is my real name my dad named me he actually got my name from tv torez is my middle name though people always ask are you Italian or Spanish or mixed lol no, at least not that i know of maybe a little Indian.

Exposed Vocals: what was your inspiration behind it?

it’s just me i like how it sounds its different i think

Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing?

i think it’s great the net is gold for artists to get themselves out there it’s amazing.

Exposed Vocals: Do you ever give your music away for free?

not a lot but i have sometimes yes

Exposed Vocals: why?

well i mean any exposure or promotion is always good but i’d rather of course my music be purchased if you are really a fan and like the music i feel like you will buy it anyway you know, album finally here! on itunes now by the way go download that everyone lol.

Exposed Vocals: since everyone was a start up once,can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?

of course again the net is your god use every tool of the net you can to promote yourself and be heard to get out there, do your research and if its good and legit go for it reverbnation.com is really good for pushing artists and their work well, my single angry bird is now #4 on their local charts and i had a really great campaign with itunes and reverbnation with them promoting my record it reached and was seen on over 200,000 major sites and blogs also fans and people of course great exposure and advertising so yes the net as an artist is the way to go it’s your savior.

Exposed Vocals: Do you ever make any mistakes during performances?

o god yes lol.

how do you handle that?

you just keep going dont pause in shock act like it never happened people will keep cheering and respect it if you just keep on going performing.

Exposed Vocals: Do you tour?

yes from time to time i wanna work and get out here more so i continue to tour more.

Exposed Vocals: any thing interesting on that you think our readers would enjoy hearing about?

lol well one time before a show i had a little too much to drink lol because i like to have a little drink before i go on stage it relaxes my nerves and im out there singing, performing and in the middle of the song i forgot some of the dam words lol so im mumbling until i started to remember and sing it right but the crowd was cool they still embraced me and the song lol that was so funny now thinking about it.

Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration?

i mean it could be anywhere really i could be chilling at home or out and about and im inspired by something or someone and write i can be deep in thought and it comes to me or listening to other artists i like old or new music, rap or r&b,pop,rock.

Exposed Vocals: what is your usual songwriting process?

well i just write whats in my heart and whats real and all i’ve gone through in life especially relationships, had alot of bad ones and alot of people hurt me that i was so good too and i hurt some people too so i write about it im never gonna put out music that isn’t me or not from the heart im not gonna hold back anything im gonna tell the story and truth through my music im gonna be me thats how i came up with the songs angry bird and strong as f*** from my album out now because those songs really tell the story of me the most and those songs are my favorite two on the album and they are being received by the fans the most too as well.

Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off what would you do?how would you spend it?

o wow am i getting the money now? lol no but i’d use it wisely i’d buy me a house not really spending too much on buying it, pay off a few things help my mom and dad and some of my family, give and help to good causes,i’d take a vacation to an beautiful island with lots of wine lol and most importantly put some of it away in a cd in the bank and save.

Exposed Vocals: Any planned studio upgrades?what are you working with now?

well yes im writing on the next album as well now this album will be more urban r&b it’s more about my relationships more personal my album out now has a mixture of styles dance, pop, r&b and still some songs are deep and personal but im saying on this album coming soon the songs will be different but the concept of what im talking about in the records will be the same,i’ve already began recording some of the records.
how do you find ways to promote your music?what works best for you?

I look for what is going to really promote me and my music the best where i can benefit best from and get further ahead in my career again mainly the net and networking with people is important that i meet when i tour and travel you never know who knows who and never burn bridges in this business or overlook a source or opportunity like its not big enough because you never know it just might be your big break or chance.

Exposed Vocals: if you can perform anywhere and with any artists dead or alive where and who would it be with?

wow lol well where would be in las vagas at the mgm grand who omg michael jackson,janet jackson,prince,lenny kratvitz,chris brown,aaliyah,whitney houston,brandy,jay-z,notorious big,lil wayne,t.i. ludacris also lil b im digging him now.
why?

omg i love them as artists i respect them, especially those when i was growing up they inspire me so much as an artist im in love with their talent.

Exposed Vocals: So what’s next? any new up coming projects that you want to talk about?

yes well im shooting and will be in an commercial advertising c a d electronics im singing in the commercial we shoot in two weeks it will be out in march/april airing on mtv,vh1,bet, im doing a press and meet and greet cd signing and giving away gifts for toys for tots event on dec.21st and then i’ll be chilling enjoying the holidays.

Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music what would you be doing?

I’d be in a mental institution lol joking no i dont know honestly because i love music so much im meant for this and to do it but i am interested in film and theater i do like that so maybe i’d be studying in school doing that or marketing and business.

it was brandy’s first album 1994 the cassette back then
what was going through your head?
i couldnt believe it that i owned it i was excited because i was in love with her and that album and her talent i played it so much lol

Exposed Vocals: How do you juggle the rest of your responsibilities while trying to stay ahead in your music life?

It can be hard sometimes but not really hard because i put music first i wake up everyday with it on my mind and im doing something that has to do with it im single too that always helps and i dont have lots of friends and no drama i stay to myself and just really bury myself in my music its what i do and really care about and even more my fans and supporters.

Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to for the rest of 2015 and beyond?

Well me continuing to give my best and all to them in my music another album coming soon in the making now, more shows ahead of course the book coming soon im working on that im looking for a good publishing company to promote it and put it out worldwide once it’s done and ready also working on a t-shirt line for my shirts thats worn on the cover of my album out now and in the video trying to get that started i also want to collab more too with other great artists would love to do a record with lil wayne or lil b just more of lorenzo torez period growing higher and better in my craft and being a better man,and always putting my heart in all i do,giving you the best that i’ve got.
