I was born in Lancaster Pennsylvania but grew up in Mechanicsburg Pennsylvania. About 30 minutes outside of the capital Harrisburg. It was very suburban/rural. We went fishing and caught snakes in the Yellow Breeches Creek...left our doors unlocked when we went to the grocery store...simple medium to small town living. Several members of the rock band Poison are from Mechanicsburg PA.
I wanted to be a singer and songwriter at a very young age. I remember doing the Tom Cruise underwear dance routine pretending to be a rock star while I sang "If You Leave Me Now" from Chicago in my living room. What's trippy is that decades later Chicago had a breast cancer awareness promotion where people could go up and sing with the band live in front of an audience and I got to sing "If You Leave Me Now" live with Chicago.
- Honestly I think the music business is pretty crazy and broken right now. I still consider myself to be a "start-up" so not sure if I have any sage advice other than be authentic and make the music you genuinely love....there is so much content out there it is mind-numbing. But people become Tik Tok stars and then can go on a stadium tour simply because thousands know them. Is that a sustainable model? Not sure. It's wild. Be authentic and if nothing happens at least you have music you are proud of.
- I think everyone makes at least little mistakes....act like it didn't happen and stay professional - don't draw attention to it.
- I do not currently tour but I am open to it. There seems to be more concerts than ever before but people are also much more fragmented and niche in their tastes. From what I can see there are artists who make money and sustain a career staying at home so its kind of all over the map anymore and no clear trends.
- Always making little improvements to my home recording and video studio. Try to be sensible with money and make smart decisions as much as possible. Working on a new jazz rock album as we head into 2022.
- I create videos and post on YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Tik Tok just like everyone else. But it seems a lot of people stream playlists from all kinds of places and don't really care about videos as much anymore. Will be interesting to see how this plays out going forward.
- What Beethoven did in music composition and arranging/orchestration completely by himself still absolutely blows my mind. He had to write all his parts out by hand....are you kidding? Talk about musical genius. Would love to perform with Beethoven or even just meet him in heaven. Also a monster fan of John Williams - a currently alive musical genius. But speaking more to my jazz rock style, I would love to open and or perform with Dave Mathews, Billy Joel, Chicago, Sting, Manhattan Transfer, Bruce Hornsby, Sarah McLachlan, Burt Bacharach, David Foster, Earth Wind & Fire. Why? The sheer musical joy of it!
- Working a new jazz rock album and would love to make an original movie and an original musical.
- Professional tennis player
- Artistic creativity and exploration.
