Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?
I am from Johannesburg(South Africa) from a small town in the East Rand. In other words I was born and raised in a small town of Duduza in Bluegumview. I grew up having listening to a lot of music because of my older brothers and sisters at home, that I up grew with, my community and my family, friends, they all dwell on music. I was inspired by the stories told by the likes of the moguls of the game today, to mention, Eminem, G- Unit and a lot more respectively. So it was back in 2006 when I decided to put my life in pages, when I wrote my very first song in my firth grade classroom. I had a strong belief that i wanted to write my own songs as I saw art from the music that was created by a lot of creatives from Fusion music to Jazz music and "KWAITO" and all the other phenomenon music genres, so i was was inspired from a young age to put my life in pages, feelings and emotions in pages and recordings of my own music.
Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?
I have a strong belief of getting to work with a really good team of event organizers from a very small events to club performances, street performances, touring, and accepting free gigs, they all pay out in the close future. But if you already getting good paying gigs then you already close to the peak of your career fam.
Exposed Vocals: Do you ever make mistakes during performances? How do you handle that?
yes, it happens. Especially when I end up mixing up the words during my performance, I keep mumbling to the rhythm of the beat or put on song ad-lips until I remember the lines and keep banging.
Exposed Vocals: Do you tour? Anything interesting happen on tour that you think our readers would enjoy hearing about?
Every-time you go on tour you know that you are definitely going to meet new people with good characters and with different characters. people usually get drunk and messy on tour, some frustrations may arise especially if you are doing non paying gigs. you meet people that you think are actually better than you just because they tend to be more confident that you may be at that point of time and that may kill your mood in one way or two. So always be bold and confident.
Exposed Vocals: Any planned studio upgrades? What are you working with now?
Most definitely yes. Personally, after getting finished with my B .ED Teachers Degree next year, I will be working on having more jobs than one Teachers job for one goal to pursue, a massive studio that is also my own is dream to claim. To record everyone else that I want to work with on my own time is a bonus blessing. I am personally comfortable working in different studios with different musicians and producers.
Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?
Marketing is key and promotion is something else. PR companies are the best way to do it if you doing everything by yourself, meaning the recording, mixing and mastering...Get interviews, social media campaigns and your music marketing campaigns and radio rotation is more important as it provides you with a more active crowed to listen to your music.
Exposed Vocals: If you could perform anywhere and with any artists (Dead or Alive) where and who would it be with? Why?
haha. Alive - It would be Diddy Sean Combs I think he is too calm and it would put on fire on me to make it jump outta control. Dead - it would be Tupac why? because I think me him we got ourselves a similar sense of humor, plus I like him. I love his music more.
