Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?
Hello, my name is Sean Young. I was born and raised in Florida, in the city of Pensacola. I knew at a young age music was going to be a major part of my life. As a little kid, I would create a drum set using pots and pans and jam out for hours with my sister. At Escambia High is where I realized I had the ability to spit a crazy sixteen. Freestyle cyphers would take place in the breeze way every Thursdays with the team, and dance battles every Friday in the main lobby. I'd have to say, I've been exposed to art and all of its many forms during my twenty-four years of life and it stuck with me heavily.
Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?
For those local bands or artists coming up, you should always be ready for anything. you never know when the opportunity to met a major producer or artist will present its self. Its always good to have some music on hand and radio ready, networking is key to the success of your brand.
Exposed Vocals: Do you ever make mistakes during performances? How do you handle that?
While performing, I've made plenty of mistakes. Times where I forgot a few words to a song , or didn't hit a note right. But, if you ever make a mistake during a performance, you should never stop performing. Even the best of the best mess up, but its how you bonce back that counts the most.
Exposed Vocals: Do you tour? Anything interesting happen on tour that you think our readers would enjoy hearing about?
As of right now, we are saving up for the MaskMindz tour bus so we can start touring the world.
Exposed Vocals: Any planned studio upgrades? What are you working with now?
There are some improvements being made to the Bat Cave. I've completely sound proofed the booth for that crisp professional sound. MaskMindzRecords is now using FL Studios to make beats and ProTools for recording and mix & mastering. I'd also like to take this time to shout out HOFFA for the magic.... He got some dope beats!!
Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?
I find that Facebook, Soundcloud, Twitter and YouTube are great ways to promote and distribute your music.
Exposed Vocals: If you could perform anywhere and with any artists (Dead or Alive) where and who would it be with? Why?
If I could perform with any artists dead or alive, Id have to say Micheal Jackson, Kendrick Lamar and of course 2Pac. These artists impacted the world in tremendous ways with their music career, creating a different sound for the world to love. Aside from making dope tracks, their performances are always innovative and breath taking. And where would I like to perform with these artists you ask? .... Everywhere!! "World Wide Tour Vibe"
