Introducing nOvah: VA’s Newest Lyricist

Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?
I was born and raised in Big Stone Gap. It's a super small town in the southwest part of Virginia. I've always loved music, it played a major role throughout my adolescent years. My cousins were making music and they had formed their own group called Valley Boy Music Group. I was a shy kid and didn't really think I had it in me. A year ago, they finally got me into a studio and it has been a journey ever since. I love it.
Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?
Network and try and find people in your area that also make music. If you don't have a group, find people that don't mind to open up for you, or that you can even open up for. As far as airplay, look for radio stations that feature the kind of music you make. Research research research.
Exposed Vocals: Do you ever make mistakes during performances? How do you handle that?
I'm the 5th member of Valley Boy Music Group. Every performance I have done, I have had my team right there beside me. If I mess up, it's like they instinctively know to back me up because they know the words to my songs and vise versa. Either way, I don't panic. I just continue to let the song flow so I can flow back into it.
Exposed Vocals: Do you tour? Anything interesting happen on tour that you think our readers would enjoy hearing about?
I have not been on tour yet, but I can't wait to tour.
Exposed Vocals: Any planned studio upgrades? What are you working with now?
I'm getting ready to get a new mic and more equipment like that. I record in-home on my laptop right now, but I'm okay with that. I can honestly express myself better within my own walls.
Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?
I became a Featured Artist with DCTOP20 and they have played a major role in helping me spread my music across social media. I could never thank them enough.
Exposed Vocals: If you could perform anywhere and with any artists (Dead or Alive) where and who would it be with? Why?
I would go across country to different cities with Isaiah Rashad. He is my greatest influence when it comes to music. I'm not sure I would have developed the sound I have, had I not heard his.
Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?
Right now I'm working on doing songs with other people. I enjoy collaborating and I don't do it enough. But soon enough, I am going to start working on album about the past few years of my life.
Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?
I suppose I would be 100% focused on college..
Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in the next year or so?
New music, my first music video as well as more, more performances, and hopefully some big opportunities.
Exposed Vocals: Any Shout-outs?
My team, Valley Boy Music Group. I wouldn't be where I am without them. DJ Anonymous and DCTOP20 for believing in me. All my family and friends, I love y'all. & anyone that has ever counted me out..
