Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?
I grew up in small town (Greenville) about 45 minutes east of Dallas. I have 3 siblings, and we all came up with a single mother. I don't really have any memory of my father. Around the time I was 13/14 years old I had always freestyles over radio when I'd chill with my homies, I didn't think much of it back then though. My close friend would tell me I should write it down and make covers, but it wasn't until I was 15 I had some friends over jus chilling, they threw on an instrumental off YouTube and wanted me to freestyle wit them. It wasn't anything more than us just BS around, but we uploaded what we got to YouTube and it had gotten around our high school. I was in alternative at the time, but I had inboxes from alot of old friends telling me to keep going. I had the PC,I did a lil diggin and started off cheap to record. I wet from an EA sports mic and windows recorder to what I use now. I can't explain what it felt like to be good at something, especially when I'm Mexican and we didn't really have alot of Hot Latino rappers at the time. It took a while before I could say I had improved enough to take myself seriously, but I'm 21 now, and everything I've learned in the past few years is what got me where I'm headed.
Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?
Invest. I was using free beats and just directly uploading them to my YouTube channel. But when you have a dream, and you really want it bad enough. You'll realize that free doesn't come with return unless you just get lucky. Look for who's hot, get your rights and make it happen. You'll see the difference.
Exposed Vocals: Do you ever make mistakes during performances? How do you handle that?
I've performed a number of times, me and my team opened up for Charlie boy out in commerce a couple years back and it was a good night. If I were to slip up during a performance id jus get my head on straight and keep it runnin. I'm human lol
Exposed Vocals: Do you tour? Anything interesting happen on tour that you think our readers would enjoy hearing about?
I don't at the moment. But I have big plans to put into play later on.
Exposed Vocals: Any planned studio upgrades? What are you working with now?
Right now I'm booking time out here in downtown Dallas. But we have a studio about an hour away I can get to when I need to, using Neumann Microphones and Mac system. I've made songs out of both Pro Tools and Audition.
Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?
Word of mouth is a strong tool. Getting in touch with important people, to work with can really be a way to get real respect. Social media is a good tool when used correctly, sometimes I tell myself to never be satisfied, there's always another way to promo.
Exposed Vocals: If you could perform anywhere and with any artists (Dead or Alive) where and who would it be with? Why?
I'd deff have to say MGK. I've been a fan of his music for a while now, like myself I've seen him go in on a hard beat and I've seen him make songs like "Gone" where you can speak on Somethin that hits close to home. Being able to make heat for different people who come from different places is something I have to respect. Like 2pac said listen to the words don't just Bob your head to the beat. It's more than music to me and I can see that's how it is wit MGK.
Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?
I just dropped a single on iTunes called "Remember Me". I have a music video in the works right now. I got some more singles with features coming soon, I haven't really planned my next project but I can tell you 2017 has my name on it.
Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?
Before I decided to rap I was workin 9-5s, getting into trouble with the law and worse. I can't even imagine where I'd be if I didn't step up to chase my dream.
Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in the next year or so?
Videos, Features and Shows. I want to focus on growing my name fast. I got friends in high places I'm hoping to make some big moves soon.
Exposed Vocals: Any Shout-outs?
Deffenitly the team YSK. they showed me so much love before anyone else did. My day one homies, we'd kick it night to night before any of this was even close to being a plan. I got to shout out my lady, she keep my head on straight. If it wasn't for her I'd be in a whole different situation most likely. I won't ever forget the man upstairs, I've prayed for this.
