Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?
I go by the name Kaisho, im an artist from South Africa, raised in Mafikeng and Rustenburg (North West). I come from a family that listened to jazz and gospel, i fell in love with Hip Hop when i first heard HHP (Hip Hop Puntsola) rap because he rapped in my mothers tongue and also in English which caught my attention but still by then i was not serious about music, i was still 10 or 11 years old, when i got to high school, i started rapping with my friends in class and outside and getting compliments for my writing skills made me realize that maybe i got it, i admired the rappers from my country and USA but i still didnt think i'd take it serious. My first time in the booth 2013, that sparked something in me, the moment was magical, i knew i wanted to do it for a living. Then during university i left doing psychology to fully push my music because the university was a distraction and it was depressing to me, the more South Africans made it, the more i wanted to do it to prove i got it too.
Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?
I feel firstly the music is the important key, your music needs to be real to people and be very good music that people can relate to, take time with your craft and know the technical side of music to have quality music then after that, push it by going to people, network to get a show, you have nothing to lose so you should go wild asking for gigs and pray that someone picks you up. get your music out there online and talk to your people on social network. As for airplay, if your music is really good, it will get loud and radio will be forced to play.
Exposed Vocals: Do you ever make mistakes during performances? How do you handle that?
hahahahaha I do yes, i have forgotten my lyrics before and mumbled the parts i forgot, i come out of that performance and tell myself i will grow from that mistake.
Exposed Vocals: Do you tour? Anything interesting happen on tour that you think our readers would enjoy hearing about?
I am About to start touring actually so i will keep you updated on that.
Exposed Vocals: Any planned studio upgrades? What are you working with now?
We not updating yet but i am working on a new project, its mixed with what we listen to today but also i have a new sound i have created, i dont know if its a mixtape or an album yet, will see when its all done. I really feel good about this, i've never felt this good about a project of my own so be on the look out, crazy things are coming.
Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?
I haven't really found the best one yet but we are going to experiment with this project coming on new ways of promoting music.
Exposed Vocals: If you could perform anywhere and with any artists (Dead or Alive) where and who would it be with? Why?
