Exposed Vocals just caught an exclusive interview with KINGQUEEN
KINGQUEEN is a pop rock band based in Los Angeles, CA. The band was formed by Swedish lead singer INA and consists of drummer Lemuel Clark, bass and synth Nipun Nair and guitarist Adam Gimenez. KingQueen has been seen on multiple platforms such as MTV, LOGO TV, Revery TV, American Music Awards and VH1. KingQueen has had nominations for best pop at LA MUSIC awards, best pop song at HMMA Awards and music video of the year (2015) at IndieNation Awards. 2018 KQ opened for Jussie Smollett at Long Beach Pride, performed DTLA proud & OC Fair. They recently released their EP “Get Loud” and music video for “Running In Water”.
Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?
I grew up in Helsingborg, Sweden and honestly it just grew on me.. always been artistic and writing and I just followed my heart ever since I was a kid.. But the thing that sparked my interest was Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” music video.. I was hooked.
Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?
Always make sure to promote your shows as much as you can and as often as you can. Be annoying! This is your art and your life! Your friends and their friends will understand and respect the hustle! Never make excuses for wanting to showcase your art.
Exposed Vocals: Do you ever make mistakes during performances? How do you handle that?
Always. I laugh!!
Exposed Vocals: Do you tour? Anything interesting happen on tour that you think our readers would enjoy hearing about?
Honestly my tours are not the most interesting. I arrive, nap, perform, go to sleep – repeat. But one time the promoter didn’t pay me what was agreed on so we billed the hotel breakfast to him.
Exposed Vocals: Any planned studio upgrades? What are you working with now?
Recently released a few tracks with my band KingQueen! And released a music video for “Running In Water”
Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?
Social media! Instagram is my favorite! You can reach so many people without being friends on it like Facebook!
Exposed Vocals: If you could perform anywhere and with any artists (Dead or Alive) where and who would it be with? Why?
Dead: Freddie Mercury. Alive: Joan Jett, The Struts, The Sounds, Imagine Dragons – all badass !!!
Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?
Focusing on the latest release and trying to reach as many people as possible with our music video for “Running In Water”.
Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?
Wow I can’t imagine a life where I don’t create music. I feel like I’m just art! But I guess I would be working on movies? Editing? Anything creative. It’s all I know.
Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in the next year or so?
I would love to tour anywhere my online fans live to give them a chance to experience me live!

My family! For understanding and accepting my crazy mind and supporting my projects no matter how well it goes. I wouldn’t be here without them!
