Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?
Psycho Ward Records: I grew up in Tampa, Florida. What made me decide to start my own label is I always visualizing myself running my own label and giving people a chance to be successful. And plus I grew up looking up to Master P, Jay Z, Diddy, Russell Simmons, J Prince, Tony Draper because they were independent record label owners who made their own way and rules to become successful.
Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?
Psycho Ward Records: I want my label to be the craziest and sickest artists in the industry. Everything we do is going to be crazy. My inspiration behind it is when you look at a Psycho Ward you see the people restrained and mind not all the way there but mostly everyone in there gets along or have a common bond with each other that’s kind of like how we are we got a common bond with each other and we all under the same roof.
Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?
Psycho Ward Records: I think it is a excellent way of getting the people to buy into you if you just coming out nobody is going to want to buy your music if they don’t know you . So giving them free music you’re allowing them to become a fan and then that would make them want to buy whatever you come out with. We gave out plenty of music matter of fact we have a compilation mixtape coming out titled Street Medicine that is going to be free. The reason for this is its going to get more viewing and reach more listeners if its free.
Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?
Psycho Ward Records: Build an audience be consistent with music once they see you coming out with better and better songs they’re going to draw to you and become fans. Have a crazy work ethic and have a plan. Then do your research on club venues and club promoters
Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?
Psycho Ward Records: My artists get their songwriting inspiration from life they stuff they go through, things they’ve been through. Their songwriting process is a listening to a hot beat and letting everything flow.
Exposed Vocals: Do you have a band website? What online platforms do you use to share your music?
Psycho Ward Records: Yes it’s currently under construction we’re revamping right now to give it a better look. It will be up and running by April. We share our music on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, and Soundcloud
Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?
Psycho Ward Records: I would invest back into the label, make sure everyone on the label is taken care of, making sure my family taken care of, and invest in stocks, and a franchise.
Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?
Psycho Ward Records: Networking, Utilizing a street team, and social media. That’s a hard question to answer because using all three will make you a success
