Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?

Kilo Jones: I grew up in Fayetteville, North Carolina. My mom used to always play old school R&B and I grew curious over time, I knew at an early age that I wanted to make music.

Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?

Kilo Jones: Nah, my homie daughter called me that one day and I ran with it.

Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?

Kilo Jones: Of course, I give lots of my music away for free. As I continue to grow my audience I want them to have the convenience of listening to some of my music for free as well as find Kilo Jones in places like iTunes and Spotify. There are a lot of platforms available to help artist share their music online, definitely a tool that should not be over looked.

Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?

Kilo Jones: Everyone starts somewhere. All I can say is work hard, don’t give up, and trust in the time that you’re putting into your work.

Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?

Kilo Jones: Experiences enable me to gather inspiration at any given moment, I can tap into the ability to make my situational experiences come to life in my music. Something I feel like I was born with.

Exposed Vocals: Do you have a band website? What online platforms do you use to share your music?

Kilo Jones: My website is www.Kiloforkilo.com. I use lots of platforms to share music, platforms like Soundcloud, YouTube, & Twitter.

Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?

Kilo Jones: There are two things, Guns & Butter. Guns are your investments, butter is the stuff you spend money on that doesn’t MAKE any money, so with that being said i’m in it to make money not lose it. “Guns & Butter” shout out to Fab.

Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?

Kilo Jones: Making sure no stone is left unturned is our motto and thats what we’re sticking to.

Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?

Kilo Jones: I’m currently working on “6 Nights In Vegas” and I have definitely been putting my soul into this upcoming project.

Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?

Kilo Jones: “If I wasn’t rappin’ baby, I would still be ridin Mercedes.

Exposed Vocals: How do you juggle the rest of your responsibilities while trying to stay ahead in your music life?

Kilo Jones: Lets just say in my past life I used to be a clown. But in all seriousness, having a strong team that takes their job serious makes everything easier on me as an artist.

Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in 2016?

Kilo Jones: The fans should look forward to new music in ’16. Lots of music.
