Exposed Vocals caught an interview with Brady Novotny. “Talks new album Passions Collide”
This whole process of making an album has stretched me in a lot of ways. I have poured out so much emotion into this record that I feel like the music is literally a part of my soul. I hope the music will inspire you to pursue your dreams and passions in life. I even pray that some of the melodies cause healing in your heart.
I humbly say that this record showcases some of my best playing and writing, but I never wanted it to be about me. My desire is that the music contained in Passions Collide will impact your life. So — Rock Your Passion!
Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?
I grew up in Pittsburgh PA. I had a love for music from an early age. I remember hearing “Crazy Train” by Ozzy when I was 10 years old. At that point I knew I wanted to play the guitar. When I finally got a guitar, I never put it down. I would even take it to school with me. Every chance I could, I studied and listened to music. Even though I am a quiet person by nature, I found that I love to perform; there is something about performing that makes playing music come alive.
Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?
Music is a business. You must invest into your product. I believe it’s important to take the time to produce a product that you are proud of. If you believe in your product, you will have no problem selling it. However that doesn’t mean the whole world will like it; if only 100 people resonate with it, then that’s your audience. You have to sow into your business in order to reap.
Exposed Vocals: Do you ever make mistakes during performances? How do you handle that?
Absolutely! As they say, “never let them see you sweat”. I believe it is good to keep going, but if you stop, then own it and make it known something isn’t right. You never want the audience to be nervous for you.
Exposed Vocals: Do you tour? Anything interesting happen on tour that you think our readers would enjoy hearing about?
Yes I have toured. I remember flying into Michigan in the middle of a blizzard. The plane was all over the place, and it was somewhat nerve-wracking. I got off the plane and into the van to take me to the show. The drive took a lot longer than usual getting to the venue. Fortunately, the majority of the band was already at the venue. I remember going in the back door, someone handing me my guitar, and then walking out on stage as the drummer is clicking off the first song. It’s a fun story to tell, but way too close for comfort.
Exposed Vocals: Any planned studio upgrades? What are you working with now?
No upgrades as of today. Pro Tools is what I currently use.
Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?
All social media sites, and of course good old fashioned relationships. I believe word of mouth is still a very effective way to promote your music. I also suggest getting a promotion/management company behind you.
Exposed Vocals: If you could perform anywhere and with any artists (Dead or Alive) where and who would it be with? Why?
As far as venues, I’ve always wanted to play at Red Rocks amphitheatre. As far as artists go there are a lot – any of my guitar heroes such as Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Randy Rhoads, Rik Emmett, and my new favourite artist Lindsey Stirling. She is just an amazing performer with such a positive message.
Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?

Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in the next year or so?
