Exclusive interview with the artist behind the hit single ‘Look At Me” (Ft. RaH & Travor Phillip) (Prod. Molly)
Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?
I grew up in Zimbabwe, Bulawayo. I started off writing lyrics at the age of 12 and then in 2015 a friend of mine called RaH invited me to his studio and featured me on one of his songs on his debut mixtape “Paper Meets Ink”. The thrill of recording and getting feedback from people made me want to more and l haven’t stopped eversince.
Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?
My advice to them is never stop believing in yourself. Life will present its hardest challenges especially as an upcoming artist but if you push on then you will get to where you want to get to and strive on. Hint, social media activity is the greatest shortcut.
Exposed Vocals: Do you ever make mistakes during performances? How do you handle that?
Of course. Like mixing up my lyrics or running out of breath. But in all this l make sure that the fans are constantly entertained and jumping up and down.
Exposed Vocals: Do you tour? Anything interesting happen on tour that you think our readers would enjoy hearing about?
Not yet but my group, Visceral, is set to tour in 2018 with the album that we are currently working on.
Exposed Vocals: Any planned studio upgrades? What are you working with now?
For now no. I have my own home studio that l invite various artists and producers that ln will be working with. I prefer working from home in my comfort place.
Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?
I find social media being the best way to promote your music in Zimbabwe and also have people talking about you. Being seen at very important events and actually telling people what you do.
Exposed Vocals: If you could perform anywhere and with any artists (Dead or Alive) where and who would it be with? Why?
An artist I would want to perform with would be Asaph at Kalawa which happens every year in Bulawayo. Asaph is my role model and in my view he is the biggest artist in my country right now. I look up to him because his come up has inspired me not only in my music career but as a person.
Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?
Yes. I have my group album coming in 2018 called IV by Visceral and l have an album due the same year. Can’t reveal the details yet but just know that it will be lit.
Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?
I can’t think of another thing that l would be doing if l wasn’t making music.
Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in the next year or so?
They should look forward to the projects lined up and shows. We are going to dominate the music industry in my country.
Exposed Vocals: Any Shout-outs?
Shout out to everyone for believing in me and shout out to the Lord for guiding me in my career.
