Change The Game (prod. by Chef Izzy) by Chef Izzy “There’s an element of inspiration to it all”
I really adore the creativity on this track. Written and produced by the artist himself, the whole thing comes through with a distinct level of character and that makes it consistently unique. The beat begins as an acoustic and fairly stripped back audio arena, it also comes with a slightly retro gaming sound on occasion, moving from the spacious and somewhat raw verses to the completely different, melodic hook section. This structure works well, there’s strength in the contrast, and furthermore – the shift is unexpected, almost seeming like two different songs, yet it makes more sense as you continue to listen.
As stated, creativity is the key – the more you let this drive your musical output, the more likely it is that you’ll hit something special. At the same time as this, it’s important to keep that mix and overall production at the highest possible level, and that’s something that’s true of this track as well. Chef Izzy has levelled the vocals and the creative music effectively, the finish works, the space in the song is unusual and gives off a fairly minimal sound, but that adds to the value, and you can genuinely hear how it would sound in a live setting and also the detail and character of each and every lyric.
The lyrics speak a certain truth, a personal story line unfolds, and you can tell it’s authentic as it feeds further into the creatively free nature of the music – ‘Life is a game, so I roll the dice.’. There’s an element of inspiration to it all, this carefree seeming yet still considerate approach to artistry will hopefully only get even more interesting and enjoyable over time as more releases float to the surface.
