Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?
I grew up in California and always loved to sing and dance. I even won the Miss Shirley Temple Look-Alike Contest back in the day! 😉 However, I really thought I wanted to be a doctor through college! After changing gears and working as a business exec for my main career, I finally started realizing what spark had been missing in my adult life--music. I decided to go back to my childhood love of singing so I began creating songs alongside my husband and voila!
Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?
Hah, we are still a start-up! 😉 That being said, I would direct anyone who wants to promote their music to research all venues and never underestimate the power of the sites such as yours to help with exposure.
Exposed Vocals: Do you ever make mistakes during performances? How do you handle that?
Well considering we are currently a studio band I'd have to say no. 😉 But I have done several retakes while recording if that counts!
Exposed Vocals: Do you tour? Anything interesting happen on tour that you think our readers would enjoy hearing about?
Again, we are a studio band consisting of me and my husband. I do all the songwriting and vocals and Todd plays the instruments with the exception of the tenor sax in "Heaven"...that gorgeous piece of work was done by our awesome daughter, Ariana! Todd also does all the editing, mixing, and mastering. So no we don't tour--but if we did we could be like the Partridge Family I suppose! 😉
Exposed Vocals: Any planned studio upgrades? What are you working with now?
We really just upgrade our own equipment as needed! Fortunately Todd is brilliant when it comes to studio tools and necessities.
Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?
The social media sites are mainly what we use. We truly enjoy making music and being creative and just want to share it with others.
Exposed Vocals: If you could perform anywhere and with any artists (Dead or Alive) where and who would it be with? Why?
Journey!!! Steve Perry was always my idol growing up and his voice is phenomenal. I like to think my writing style has a tiny flare of Journey in it because the songs all have real meaning and most are similar to throwback rock.
Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?
Well, we just released "Rescue Me" on 1/28/17 so we are going to see how that goes! 😉
Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?
I'd dedicate more time to family and other hobbies like belly dancing, fantasy sports and video games!
Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in the next year or so?
Hopefully watching our songs get some more exposure but really just finding something that they can connect to in our music.
Exposed Vocals: Any Shout-outs?
Yes, first Shout-out goes to my family whose love and inspiration I am beyond grateful to have. Second Shout-out goes to Songsmith's Music Motel and the awesome Dennis Holseybrook who constantly supports Aria Dark and spins our tunes on his radio show on http://www.hamiltonradio.net/!!! And last but not least a huge Shout-out goes to Exposed Vocals for giving us this opportunity--you rock! 😉
