Exposed Vocals Interviews L.O.E
Exposed Vocals: How did you hear about Exposed Vocals? What made you decide to sign up?
L.O.E: Well, we where browsing the internet one day and came across you all. We then looked into your site and looked into all the different opportunities you had for artist and seen the body of work you guys put in so we decided to sign up.
Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?
L.O.E: We all grew up on the East side of Cleveland,Oh born and raised. We all had a love for music as kids from beating on the lunch room table at school to battle rapping against each other for recreation. We Started to develop a love for it and decided to start a group L.O.E (Loyalty Over Everything) and now where here. We love to create, that’s what drive us.
Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?
L.O.E: The name started as one of our slogans at first (Loyalty Over Everything) and then eventually became our name. It’s pretty much a way of living, it’s a family and we are brothers and nothing can come between us.
Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?
L.O.E: Well Let us say this, we don’t mind giving out free music every once in awhile. Its not about believing in your work enough to get compensation its pretty much getting yourself out there before you start asking someone for some money. This is just OUR outlook on it. Its just like if someone come up to you and pitch his mixtape to you and tells you it’s 10 bucks, do you buy it? Maybe/Maybe not right? Well if I give it to you for free I might of just got a potential fan that will buy the next project. But we are not against selling our music at all, we actually have music on Itunes, Spotify, Google Play and where ever digital music is sold. Its just different situations that may require giving out free music to capture a larger potential fan base.
Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?
L.O.E: Yes, keep pushing and find local gigs in your area and go network! Networking is a big key to getting gigs or anything for that matter. You never know who the guy or women is in front of you. Also make sure the material you are presenting is mixed/mastered professionally. That’s the only way someone will believe in you. Having quality behind you shows you are serious about your career and that will make others serious about YOU.
Exposed Vocals: Do you ever make mistakes during performances? How do you handle that?
L.O.E: lol, well I think we all made mistakes before and if it occurs you have to just keep the show rolling. Don’t stop and make it more noticeable. For example if you trip on stage try and play it off and do a 2 step dance to make it seem like your dancing lol. Maybe that’s just the goofy side of L.O.E.
Exposed Vocals: Do you tour? Anything interesting happen on tour that you think our readers would enjoy hearing about?
L.O.E: Yes, L.O.E has toured to varies states and cities. We are not currently on tour but we are still doin gigs around the country. I don’t think its to much of anything that’s interesting other then L.O.E puts on a damn good show. I think that’s interesting lol.
Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?
L.O.E: Well it varies honestly but we gather it from everywhere and anyone. It can be a conversation that sparks the idea of a song, so as a general response, life inspires us and the process. Lol you know that’s top secret we can’t give you that, but nice try lol.
Exposed Vocals: Do you have a band website? What online platforms do you use to share your music?
L.O.E: Yes, we have an official website www.LoyaltyOverEverything.com. Also some of the platforms we use to share our music are YouTube, SoundCloud, Reverbnation, Instagram, Facebook, Digital retail stores ect. You guys can also follow us on our social media pages:
IG @kingKollison216 @YoungScratt @DwerdMuzik & twitter is the same
Exposed Vocals: What are some really embarrassing songs that we might find on your mp3 player?
L.O.E: Well to be honest some of our old material that will never be leaked lol.
Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?
L.O.E: We will definitely find ways to invest it back into music and the future as far as our personal lives are concerned.
Exposed Vocals: Any planned studio upgrades? What are you working with now?
L.O.E: No. None planned, but you know how technology is so we’re definitely excited and ready for any upgrades! We are currently working with Protools HD..
Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?
L.O.E: There’s always ways to promote from social media, Gigs, street teams, emails, blogs, mags ect.. Social Media is a quick and easy tool to use and if it’s used the right way you will see results. All tools work best for L.O.E, anything to get the word out is a tool we will continue to use. You just have to find new ways to promote to catch the eye of your audience.
Exposed Vocals: If you could perform anywhere and with any artists (Dead or Alive) where and who would it be with? Why?
L.O.E: It’s hard to just name one artist because we’re inspired by and have respect for so many, so I would have to say Jay-z, T.i, Biggie, Pac, J-cole, Drake, Kendrick, and R Kelly just to name a few. And A Place L.O.E would love to perform would have to be somewhere overseas. That’s an experiment within itself. Not to many artists get that opportunity.
Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?
L.O.E : We are solely focused on singles right now and putting three strong musical minds into one song to create the best possible track for the world to enjoy.
Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?
L.O.E: Anything other than music was never a thought but if it had to be it would be playing basketball on the n.b.a level. Yeah we have game like that haha.
Exposed Vocals: Do you remember buying your first album? Who was it? What was going through your head?
L.O.E: Wow that’s a great question, I believe it was biggie and I remember just identifying with his struggle of just trying to make something of himself even with the odds against you, that’s still a very relevant thought today.
Exposed Vocals: How do you juggle the rest of your responsibilities while trying to stay ahead in your music life?
L.O.E: Well it’s not always an easy task, in fact life itself isn’t but responsibility itself means to handle any and everything that’s important by any means necessary so we knock things down one step, one day, and one things at a time by priority.
Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in 2016?
L.O.E: The fans can look forward to a refreshing breath of music in hip hop from L.O.E, we bring a diverse sound together blending three individuals into one unit that will be a force to reckon with for years to come.
